Have been a few dull ones this season but todays was a good watch watch! Plenty of overtakes and drama even though i was hoping for rain!

Not a big Button fan but have to hand it to him for that drive today. Deserved to get the championship out of it.

Also fair play to Mark Webber for the win and Vettel for another great drive.

New boy Koboyashi must have shocked a few people too - especially Nakajima Mr. Green

I don't personally believe he's a worthy world champion. If there wasn't so much controversy over all the new regulations and it was the same as last season, Hamilton would have taken it.

It's nice for two British drivers to win it two years in a row, but I'm sticking by Hamilton.

Thumbs Up

Fully deserved the Championship this season, 9 years he's been in it now. Always been a consistant and fast driver over the years but was always let down by the Honda team, brilliant result.

I think his dedication to the team has finally paid off. A few years ago he had the opportunity to bugger off to the more promising Williams team, but he fought hard to stay put and develop the car further.

Also, gotta feel sorry for Webber. It's not often he wins a race, but he drove a good race today and got totally overshadowed by Button.

Wouldn't of won if other drivers hadn't been let down by their teams.

You can't say he didn't drive well today and all season, the risks he took today were huge in some overtakes. Textbook stuff.

Rolling Eyes , He's won 6 races so far this season. Vettel has only won 3 and Barrichello has won 2.

Button was the best driver this year, so he deserves the championship. Simple.

The BBC broadcast is fucking hilarious. Laughing

Just because the world champion wasn't a smug german cunt winning every race by over a minute and the fact there were more than two teams pretty much always in the running for a win, doesn't mean that Button isn't a worthy winner.

IMO he is more a worthy winner than many others before him.

Consistent, sensible, calculating. That's what he had. Hamilton would have buckled under the pressure in many of the situations Button had been in, think of how many mistakes he made during the 2008 season, yet he got away with it because Mclaren were nigh on impossible to touch.

Good on Button a real racer, some of those overtakes today were superb.

Although my new favourite driver is koboyashi, I hope he secures a permanent drive next year!

Which company spent £450 Million devolping this car in 08 instead of making their old one better....

Sadly one thing has been proved this year by Brawn. That they do not have the talent to keep the car at the top.
R Brawn, is a very talented guy and knows how to run a race, but he needs the backing of the rest behind him to push the car harder.
Hopefully now they have the championship it will bring the money in to allow them to keep at the top.

It's been quite funny all season but Sunday was sooo funny because of the Brawn team getting carried away celebrating. Eddie Jordan getting caught up in it. Excellent stuff.

To those who say Button doesn't deserve it, that's a crock of pap. He drove fantastically at the beginning of the season and come the Brazilian GP he drove like a man possessed for the beginning of the race. Had he not gotten stuck behind Kobayashi then I think he'd have continued like that for longer.

I also thought Webber, Barrichello and Kobayashi all did well. Webber did well to get the jump on Barrichello. Kobayashi, although some of his driving was questionable he showed that drivers new to F1 can still be competitive, even in a car that has had mixed performances all season.

I still don't understand why Trulli went so mad with Sutil. Sutil did no wrong, he had the racing line and Trulli was off the racing line.

I think Jenson Button deserved it for his loyalty to Honda and the fact that he is a bloody good driver. Every world champion needs a car under him that is competitive, at the very minimum. The regulations caught everyone out this year and whether the FIA bottled the diffuser question or not is a moot point. The red bulls have been fast all season and Button has done more than enough to keep them behind for the first part and then in sight for the latter part of the season.

The bloke is one of the smoothest drivers on the grid and let's face it, he's a more grounded champion than Hamilton could ever be. Button was competing in the same tri-athlon as my little brother a few months back, all for charity, I doubt Hamilton would have done that.

I like seeing back-to-back British F1 champions and I do think that Hamilton is the more talented driver but let's not take anything away from Button, he is a worthy world champion for 2009.

Cheers

Grim

Excellent article there, it just goes to show how lucky some people are (the fact that Hamilton has mostly had Mclaren behind him).

First I'll echo the good sentiment towards Button - he deserved it! I think he managed more overtakes this season than everyone else put together.

One thing i think a lot of people missed was Jonathan Legard's question to Jordan it went something along the lines of "so Eddie - can you describe what it's like to be a team owner and a team boss, with your name above the door and to achieve such success". Eddie of course went into his standard waffle and Legard just stood there trying to keep a straight face Coultard managed to hide all but the tiniest smirk at the end.

You're thinking of Jake Humphreys and yes I saw that. The whole season I have been laughing at Eddie Jordan and some of the tripe he comes out with. Let's face it though, it's so amusing that I think the BBC should keep him on next years show too.

You're right, I even checked what his name was... damn my poor googling skills. I was just discussing the merits of Eddie in the office - he has a lot of contacts and you have to have someone as the figure of fun / dislike to round out the group.
