does anyone know how to set up dell'orto carb

hi there replaced the carb on my aprilia rs 125 2000 model with another dellorto 28mm carb i cleaned it thoroughly so know theres know dirt in it, the bike starts fine but doesnt tick over and just wondering how you fine tune it so it will tick over. will i need to replace the jet, or move them a size up or a size down

I don't know how many jets your particular carb has, mine was 30mm and had three, for tickover, provided you have tried adjusting the tickover setting without success, then you might need to adjust the pilot jet as far as I remember, this usually works from start up to about 3,000 revs.

If this carb is bigger than the previous one then check other factors like your exhaust, It took me a while to get mine running right due to a coked up exhaust and being slightly over carbed, this caused it to bog down under load and at lower revs.

I expect someone else on the forum can give you far more detailed information than I can.

oooh the eveil delorto,, i recon they are one of the hardest carbs to set up too many variables some times,
i allmost always change the delotro out for a mikuni,
in fact every bike ive had with one ive ditched,

good luck though, some people really like them

hi,
turn the air/mixture screw to 2 & half turns out.(iirc)
turn the idle adjust screw (the one with black plastic knob) clockwise, all the way in, then back out a bit.
get it started up, go for a wee run & get it up to temp.
then paull up & see what its idling at.(probably a bit high)
just turn it anti-clockwise till its around 1200 rpm.
might be worth checking the main jet, wouldnt bother with the others.
