It's the middle of a bright sunny day and some idiot thinks it's a great idea to be letting off noisy fireworks. What's the sodding point, really? Rolling Eyes

I mean, I like watching the fireworks at night and they look all pretty n stuff, but seriously, middle of the day? Haven't the local chavs got anything better to do? Oh wait...think I answered my own question! Mad

'OOh'
'Ahhh'
'feck me that was loud'
'I'm going in doors now, whats on TV?'

Couldn't give a rats ass about fireworks other than give it a rest when its been going on for hours and hours. People seem to wait for one party to finish before starting theirs.

Its like the middle east some nights!

Don't care tbh. Doesn't affect me. I like watching them.

In the day is a bit pointless really but doesn't bother me.

I'm more fed up with it than anything else. And it's bugging the cats out something chronic.

I hate wankers that use fireworks to kill cats and dogs. Local papers news last week was a family dog had to be put down as his jaw was blow apart by a banger some kids thought it would be funny to put there. I dont find that funny at all. It happens every dam year and for that reason I hate the dam things. I am sure after Halloween there will be more in the paper about throwing life dogs into bonfires infront of kids again where they burn to death. Yes that happens to. Confused

ban halloween altogether. Middle Finger

In this day and age there is no need for fireworks. They should all be either restricted, you need to obtain a licence to buy them or banned and can only watch them at official shows.

I have no problem with fireworks being let off for a few nights around bonfire night. The annoying thing for me is it is pretty much a month solid of fireworks every night around here. They aren't even good fireworks.

I've never been able to understand why people buy a million really crap fireworks that more or less go pop with a tiny brief shower of light rather than just a few decent ones that actually do look good.

I have no idea why on earth people buy their own fireworks. Go see a display, it's free and far superior.

I say call a nationwide ban on their sale before 2 weeks before the 5th of November.

They have been going off around here for weeks now. They don't bother me and they don't bother the dog so I couldn't really care less. There was one night last week when someone must have set about 50 rockets off at the same time. I heard the woosh and when I looked up there was just fireworks everywhere.

Every occasion seems to be celebrated with fireworks now aswell. Little johnny's birthday, new years eve, even just having a sodding barbeque tends to end in an impromptu disply these days.

I was going to say to the original poster that it could be worse, as in Liverpool, they throw fireworks into pubs and shops as they pass by, but from what dragonfly says, it sounds like northern Ireland is a lot worse than Liverpool.

I was going to point out that is Diwali, the Festival of Lights, before I remembered the voting preferences of your neighbours and considered it unlikely...

Don't ban fireworks, ban chav's. Much more sensible, I've never had a bike stolen by a firework...

They banned mortars unless you have a proper pyro license.

Mortars are the ones that go up and make perfect spheres which you only see in pro shows.

I remember trying to make some of them. Brilliant fun.

Round here I tape my letter box shut at night just in case. Gotta love Birmingham. Confused Anywhere you go you're gonna get asbo pricks that throw them around, and worse, those that hurt animals with them. I just get twitchy when they start going off around midday and don't stop until gone midnight. When I worked in north Birmingham the local kids used to set them off in the park opposite our offices, and I've lost count of the amount of rockets that have near missed me. Scares the fuck out of me to be perfectly honest.

I bet you live in Erdington or out towards Longbridge. We used to get a lot in Small Heath but it is a lot quieter these last few years, even when it was bad we never had them through the letterbox though.

Where I live is a bit rough, but Liverpool is quite a bit rougher. Not half as rough as Northern Ireland by the sounds of it though.

If you like, I could make Northern Ireland the new liverpool, but I havent actually been there, whereas I have been in a pub in liverpool when a firework was thrown in. More of a prank than outright violent.

That simply wouldnt happen where I live, but I dont think in Liverpool, people would be putting fireworks in the mouths of dogs.

It amazes me that the 'government' can ban books and leaflets and shit that may be useful to a terrorist, but they can still walk into a store and buy huge quantities of explosives.

And yes, for the sheer thoughlessness of their use (admittedly by a minority), I would prefer to see a total ban on the sale of fireworks to the public.

Liverpool isn't rough at all. It just relies on sheltered people like you thinking it is and spreading the word. There are only one or two pubs that still have sawdust on the floor to soak up any blood and piss. You need to see a bit more of Britain Col.

You may think Liverpool is normal, but not many towns or cities in this country have streets of boarded up houses.

I'm not saying going to Liverpool means certain death, but it is rougher than most parts of the UK, with higher crime levels.
