If you total up all your basic living expenses on a weekly basis...what amount do you need just for your day to day survival..?If you share the expenses with your partner just work out what YOUR contribution is.

Basics would mean a roof over your head+bills, essentials+food, and other necessaties.Doesnt mean petrol for hooning or weekend drink and drugs.

*Students and those still living with mammy and pappy...need not reply*

ta very much Cool [/b]

P.S ..if it`s easier for you to work it out as a monthly figure instead of weekly one....you can do that.
i`m sure i`ll be able to divide it by 4 to get the answer i need. Laughing

You might not be such a fat cunt if you spent less than £400 a month on food.

Shaggy's wife is only home every other month, I spend more than him though as his wife likes to go out to restaurants once a week.

Per month, live on my own.

Rent £240
Council Tax £90
Bills £120
Food £300
Fuel £100

On top of that you've got insurance (I pay 2.4k on my car, but paid it off in one), going out, luxuries, clothes.

It's not cheap living in england.

Don't you have diesel Golf? If you haven't swapped that for a Lamborghini to get that premium you really ought to shop around, that's absurd, even for Stoke.

I used to have a diesel golf.

I have 2 claims, 6 points, a ban and was 19 when I insured it.

£1100 a month on mortgage and bills (includes council tax, gas and electricity, BT telephone line, tv licence and house & contents insurance + a little bit for emergencies)

£150-£200 food shopping (not including wine and beer - this includes cooking dinner for lots of friends fairly regularly too)

£120 petrol to commute (easily spend this again on hooning petrol)

£30 mobile phone

Other costs which I pay off in one go include car tax - £215, car insurance £600, bike tax £66 (for two) and bike insurance £120 (for both) - call it £1000 in total, split over 12 months say £85 a month.

Basic living costs are approximately £1500 a month, just me and my income.

Let's see... *pulls up budgeting spreadsheet*

There's 5 of us - me, partner and 3 kids. Below are our basic monthly essentials (not including my personal spending (contact lenses, mobile phone, the bike, my clothes, birthday/xmas presents, savings etc). I put £1000 of my wage per month towards it (leaving me with about £150 left over). Partner doesn't work and gets Child Tax Credit and Child Benefit as her income, of which she'll put enough towards it to leave her with a similar amount of money as I have left over for herself. We also get a little housing benefit to help towards the rent.

Monthly outgoings:

Gas/Electricity £101.00
Phone £20.00
Rent £785.00
Shopping £433.34 (£100 per week)
Water £5.00
Sewerage £13.00
Council Tax £149.00
TV License £12.12

Total £1,518.46

Thumbs Up

Because he separates sewerage from his water bill? You get what you pay for, and Essex water mings. Wink

I pay £22 a month to thames water for both supply and waste, it's the cheapest and most hassle free utility there is.

To the OP...
For me and my partner, split 50/50

Mortgage £900
Life Insurance £30
Water £22
Phone+Broadband £25
TV Licence, In Aug, Nov, Feb + May £36

Gas+Electric are quarterly and the bills vary massively, the most expensive averages per month to date are £82 for electric + £72 for gas.

I pay the council tax in a lump yearly, much as it pains me £1100.

We eat separately, so food bills are probably obscene for both of us and yet to be calculated, as are vehicle expenses. 1 car, 2 bikes, 1 van, 1 7.5t.

Diesel to get me to work and back is a tank per month, 400 miles, around £60.

There is never much left over each month, I save when I can, and I have no pension plan.

Bright future.

Because we receive housing benefit and child tax credit, we can get water at that flat rate. And sewerage is handled by another company where we live. Thumbs Up

My living expenses are ridiculously low.

I actually eat better, when I'm spending £20 a month on food and its cooking from scratch, than spending £120 a month and its convenience food and ready meals.

My commute is 3 miles a day, and its often done by bicycle.

My mortgage is ridiculously low, as I have paid most of it off, with some cash I inherited a while back.

Sometimes, I think I need to live a bit and spend more money, I should certainly spend money on doing up my house.

I'm not sure if I should think of ways to up my standard of living to make use of my income, or just be content being a tight arse, and never really need to worry.

When I see other people spend, I often think that they are just wasting it rather than getting much benefit. It's mostly keeping up with the jones's stuff you dont need.

Holidays are good for your health and mental well-being though, so aren't a waste of cash. Marriage and kids on the other hand, bad for your pocket, health and general state of mind.

Everyone knows the REAL way of getting rid of excess funds is hookers. Hookers and fast bikes. Hookers, fast bikes and coke.
