had my first little off today, minding my own business slowing down for a roundabout.. all of a sudden back wheel slips from under me and im on the floor.. didnt even blink

Only damage is bend footpeg, and a broken indicator lens.. the bulb in fine..

Was a bit shaken up, and now really paranoid about the back wheel slipping Shocked But i thinks its because it hasnt rained in a while and its all slimey on top..

Also think there was some oil on the floor, as everything that touched the ground has some oily stuff on it..

I feel happier when its pouring, can't do with that twightlight zone that is a half wet road near junctions.
Sure you'll be fine...usual BCF advice..hop on asap and ride a road you like.

You may believe there was oil on the floor, some of the ped boys may think it has credibility, the rest of us just think you lost it in the wet.
We all do it.

[rolls sleeves up] eh up 1930Ariel when was the last time you road a motorbike on a wet public road. I'm giving Moo the benefit of the doubt as the only time i've had my rear end go dodgy was on slimey roads (and once in Singapore but thats a different story)
All busy junctions are the pits in the wet so its easy does it time.

I nearly lost it comin back from london the other week on my gixer. Comin off a roundabout on the A11 in the pissing down rain and the back wheel slid- left, right, left, right God only knows how i didnt come off.
No oil, just a bit to much power in the wrong gear in the wet.

Still a bit nerous in the wet now.

if you hit oil i think it would be your front end you would loose first seing as thats what would hit it first. only time i've lost it was when i hit a oil patch next to my college, was slowing down for a give way and it just flew out from under me. the place was bad for oil spills as it was the road the construction vehicles/trucks/lorries used to get to the college and the hospital being built nearby.

chances are that it was just user error and the back end slipped out because of too much throttle or too much lean for the speed you were doing (mixed with wet roads). also bear in mind roads are always slippy after a dry spell and then some rain.

We've all lost the rear end at one time or another, either too much rear brake, down shifted too much too soon. What the road under your wheels is like will determine how you brake, down shift.
