These are seriously quick. Above 70 I didn't have a chance.

They can be had a couple of years old for under 25k that is alot of car for the money.

Stonking cars! Got a mate who is thinking about getting one. So hop he does so i can have a go! Twisted Evil

And to the above post - Its not really a car you buy with fuel consumption in mind is it? Thats like saying the new fiat panda is a bit rubbish for getting over 150mph! Laughing

You can pick up the early non VXR for a little over 10k now.

Really nice cars IMO and a serious alternative to an M5 when you consider the costs!

Were you on the Speed Four then?

I prefer this style:
https://images.drive.com.au/drive_images/Editorial/2007/09/21/Holden_ute_SS-V_m_m.jpg

These Vauxhalls aren't too shabby either:
https://image.motortrend.com/f/editorial/bahnstorming-tales-from-the-fast-lane/9876922+cr1+re0+ar1/lotus-carlton-rear-three-quarter.jpg

Unless somebody buys a bike purely for the fuel economy then comparing mpg seems like clutching at straws Laughing

Had a go in one on a VXR trackday around Rockingham. Nice cars, smooth powerful engines, but heavy and would (or should) be raped by any sports 600 or above.

picture the scene Cool

"What are you driving these days?"
"A Vauxhall"
"Your drive a Vauxhall are you mad or gay, or have you lost your mind?"
"But its got a V8, 6 litres it goes really really fast"
"But its a vauxhall!"
'goes off to buy a proper car.

A BMW M5 has everything , the german build quality, the nice ride, the great seats, brilliant engine, great breaks. The monaro or the VXR8 are cheap tacky , have a V8 but its trying way to hard, i saw one the other day, guess who was driving it, thats right the Burberry hat brigade Rolling Eyes

Or Australia, yes? They didn't last too long in the US, despite some people loving them and keeping them forever.

Not rolling on from 70+, I reckon I could have had him up to 70 but much after 70 he was always leaving me.

Yeah it was on the S4

The normal Monaro is a 5.7 Litre LS1 and the VXR is a 6 litre LS2.

You can get a VXR for about £15 - £17k now with decent milage, I quite fancy one. Or I might save up a bit more and just get a Maloo imported, and get a nice supercharger fitted. There good cars, if you go to Sydney, there everywhere!

I had a bit of a surprise from one of those too when he put the foot down as I passed him on a dual carriageway.

Had to change down two gears to make the point firmly enough.

...and the price tag to go with it.

Not really a fair comparison to drag out M5s that are three times as old, with three times the mileage, as an equivalently priced XVR8.

The picture at the start of the thread is the old Monaro.
