Honda Varadero right, bike should be upright not on side stand with engine warm but off. You need someone to either hold the bike up for you or check the view window, oil should be at top mark in the window. If you need some pages scanning in from the owners book I can sort you out. Thumbs Up

For any bike you check the oil level when the bike is upright.

https://www.125varadero.com

The above link stright to the Varadero owners site. I got some good idea's from there and there is plenty of hins and tips and a there is a link for service manual somewhere on there.

I used to check my oil level when warm and by standing the bike upright as well. Mine used to appear slightly over the top mark, but never made me worry.

Nice bike Thumbs Up , look after it and it will reward you with many many happy miles, as i did 10k on mine before some little c**t stole mine last week Mad Thumbs Down

I always thought that but manual states when changing oil, warm engine then check and top up if needed. Suppose when cold all the oil is sitting at the bottom of the sump so could be inaccurate.

When changing oil yes, should be warm but I'm still under the belief that it needs to be cold to check, or i've been doing it wrong on cars and bikes for years

If you check the oil after the engine has been run the oil is in many different places of the engine and not in the sump where it should be when you are checking the level. In the glass you would see nothing.

Why do you think it says in most manuals if you are going to check the oil after a ride make sure you leave the engine off for a few minutes? It's so the oil can return back to the sump.
