Just un-intentionally bought an SV650 off fleabay and I don't even have my licence yet. I just put a bid on about 8 days ago to find out where the reserve was and no one bid on it.

It's a T reg (1999) bike with 8,000 miles on the clock, full fairing kit, performance exhaust. £940.00. Talked to the guy and he said it runs like a swiss watch.

Good Deal?

And does anyone have one or owned one so I know what they're like. Got my Mod 1 & 2 in 3 weeks. This bike will be waiting for me 'if' I manage to pass.

May I direct you to the search function on this site.

Try typing 'SV650' (without the quotes) and see what you get.

It looks almost like mine, except that's the darker yellow one. £940 for a 99 SV is a good deal IF it's in good nick. Parkers lists £1210 for good and £840 for poor condition.

The only problem I can see is that you've never viewed the bike so you don't know what it really looks like up close.

I paid a lot more but that was in May with 6000 on the clock and mine's a Y Reg K1

They're not a bad bike, probably a good first big bike, tho lots of people hate em with a passion.

BTW - If you haven't passed your licence yet, how are you gonna get your newly purchased bike home?

That's what I thought, it's a very risky way of buying a bike but the dealer said it was in real good condition. He did say it had been sitting for a while but other than that everything is perfect.

Going to borrow my old man's jeep and my mates trailer. It's so tempting to ride it back but I'm not stupid or selfish enough to risk hitting someone else.

My bike test will be during that week so it's an incentive to pass. However if i don't pass it's going to be sitting there taunting me Shocked

Apparently there's a new can on it that is louder than Thor!! I'm getting more and more excited everyday. I've been so bored of being stuck on my YBR.

So how do you like the SV mate?

I quite like my SV. I've thought about adding a comfort kit with higher bars to make it more fun if I'm out on it for like 7-9 hours or so, and maybe some lower pegs (which feel a little high to me)

Apart from the riding position it does the job well.

The question you have to ask yourself is what do you want the bike for? Fun and blasting about on Sundays and spare time? It's great, tho if you're of the chickenstrips, kneedown, redline the bike till I bend the speedo needle type you may get rapidly bored of it cos its not a Gixxer Wink Commuting? Generally knocking about round town, shopping etc?

If your commute is a few miles in the town/city only then it's not as fun as your YBR IMHO. That's why I kept my CBR125, as it's my general rideabout. That bike may be an underpowered bag of shite, but on little roads up to 45-50 it's a fun little bag of shite Smile I kinda wish I could just drop a 250 into my 125 to extend the fun a bit. 96mpg is not to be sniffed at.
