So last night round a girlies house, who i've been seeing for a while, she got a bit drunk on stella, then started one of her usual pissed up arguments with me.
She then decided to scream at me that I was in her face, and tell me that she was going to break my nose, at this point her mum came down to see what all the commotion was about, and realised that it was me she was shouting at and went back to bed.
Said girlie, then got up close to me and threatened to break my nose again, I rather stupidly told her that it turns me on when people threaten me like that, so she began to slap me full force across the face, with a few punches in there. Now I just sat where I was, and kept smiling at her, as she did this to me. Whilst telling her to calm down.
Now here is the funny bit, whilst she was getting dressed this afternoon I was talking to her mum, and appologised for waking her at 4am with the arguement. But to my suprise she told me that she knows that I wouldn't hit her, and is why she never came to stop it. She then told me that if she were me, she would have walked out and left along time ago.
Now she is only a slight lass, probably 5'2 and 6 1/2 - 7st, so she is quiet tiny compaired to me, and I know that if I did hit her I would cause a fair bit of damage, but I have never hit a female and never would, because I dispise people who do this weather it is male - female or female - male, I think hitting someone is very poor way out of a argument, and just proves that they have nothing to argue about, and are trying to make one.
What would you have done in this situtation?

There's an ancient martial technique that was developed specifically for situations just like this, where you take the person's wrists to prevent further slaps and punches. You can even twist on them to force the tiny person away, into a chair, onto the ground, whatever. It's called the 'Restraint Technique on Tiny People, Especially Petite Girls What is Drunk and a Bit Too Lary for Their Own Good'. I think it came out of China, but more recently popularised by Bruce Lee. And Chuck Norris, though he usually followed it up with a kick in the slats.
If you want to learn it I think Penguin Books still have a manual in print, titled 'Self Defence for Clueless Fvcktards'.

I have been in this situation. I had a girlfriend who was like this. Most of the time, she was nice as pie, but from time to time, she would fly into rages.
Lets call her Nadine. That wasnt her name but it makes it easier to describe the situation.
When she was being nice as pie, we discussed her rages, and she would grow quiet and embarassed about them. We discussed the situation. I talked about how it didnt feel right, that when she was having a strop, I would feel compelled to leave the house, although it was my house. One time I had actually man-handled her into the garden, and shut the patio door leaving her in the garden to calm down.
We discussed this when she was being nice as pie. We would talk about it as nice Nadine, and nasty Nadine. She wasnt actually schizo, but it was a way of distancing her from her bad behaviour, so we could talk about it. So nice Nadine, how should we deal with nasty Nadine. Nice Nadine felt that the time out in the garden had worked and given her time to calm down, so we agree that this was a good way to deal with the tantrums.
Now the putting her in the garden, had been easy that first time, as she was near the door, and it hadnt taken much to bundle her out.
The next time there was a tantrum, which was bit more violent than previous, with actual (ineffective) attempts to knee me in the bollocks, I tried the timeout technique. However, I was nowhere near the back door, and not that near the front door. She struggled quite a bit, and started shouting. I think the word "police" was called out a few time. I was holding her quite firmly by either her wrists or her elbows and was trying to bundle her out the front door.
Now my memory gets a little hazy, so I may be combining two separate occasions in one story here, but there was an occasion, where she was bundled out the front door, then went round the back, and kicked the back gate in damaging it. Now I cant remember if she managed to then get in the back door and I ended up outisde or what, but there was an occasion when she ended up inside my house laughing at me, and i climbed through the kitchen window. This ended up with her in the garden teary calming down, while I was inside.
This was definitely the time that the word "police" had been shouted earlier. I then get a knock on the door from the police. Straight away, I'm the guilty party, as I'm male, and they question me and her separately. Fortunately, she had calmed down by then, but I think she may have had a mark on her arm where I had been holding her, to restrain her when she had been trying to hit me.
It's true, that chances are, if I had just let her try to hit me without holding her, she wouldnt have hurt me, but I dont think I should have to do that.
I mentioned to the police that she had thrown something at me, but this may not have been the occasion she tried to knee me in the bollocks, as I didnt mention that.
We were both shaken by the arrival of police, as it makes it public and embarassing. At the time, she knew she was in the wrong, but to the police that would have just looked like girlie blaming herself when it was actually evil man who was at fault. The rage had passed, so they jsut saw a miserable teary woman sat in the garden while bloke is inside.
I thought the police were trying to get her to press charges, so I pointed out that if that happened, I would just describe how she had thrown something at me and started it.
Police suggested we have a bit of a timeout to calmdown, and I pointed out that was what we were doing. However to them it didnt seem reasonable to have the timeout with me having the power of being inside while she was outside.
It was an intense relationship. She was an intense person. Possibly a bit bi-polar. Definitely used to getting her own way. Having the police round could have jeopardised my job, possibly all future jobs.
If I had lost my temper in the way she had, I could have hurt her, and she might have forgotten that she initiated it.
The good bits outweighed the bad, and I didnt feel I could kick her out, but things kind of went down hill from there, so maybe I was kidding myself thinking I could make it work.
In an ideal world, if a woman is a nutter, you ditch her. However, sometimes the nutters are worth keeping. I think the best policy, is not to move in with someone, if they have tendencies to want things their way a lot. You never know how far they will push things if they arent getting their way.
I don't really offer a solution. Sometimes crankyness could be sorted out by looking for the root of the crankyness. So if nice nadine was turning into nasty nadine, it might just be an issue of finding out if she was hungry, in which case food would correct the mood, or maybe she was horny, and a fuck would fix it.
She would be a bit like a baby that cries but isnt quite sure why they are upset, so you have to check the nappy, or offer some milk or whatever until you can fix the problem.
However, this can be good for fixing short term things, but often there are underlying things that are a bit more tricky to root out and fix.
At one point we thought that maybe her recurring crankyness, was due to her money worries. We agreed this could be sorted, if I lent her money to pay off debts, on the condition, that she would show me her bank statements and talk about what she was spending her money on.
She would pay a lot less interest, and I would get more than what I got from the bank. Of course, she quickly didnt want to stick to the part of the deal about me controlling her spending, and it wasnt long before she stopped doing the payments. This of course made me the bad guy along with other things, particularly when one sided accounts would go to her friends who would no doubt tell her that i was in the wrong from what she had said.
So the relationship ended with her owing me a large amount of money, and any contact from me suggesting she might pay some back would be greeted with hostility. She had every intention of paying me back, and thought I was rude and callous to actually bring up the matter of her doing some actual paying.
In the end, she payed back the original amount 3 years later, but had decided not to pay interest. So I lost money over what it would have been if it were sitting in the bank.
The only reason I got it back, was her new boyfriend lent it her 
Unstable nutters can be great company, but just dont expect them to act rationally or be reasonable.
Other people may well think you are nuts for putting up with a nutter, but often their good moments outweigh their bad moments.
I've heard that not all women are nutters, but I'm not entirely convinced. I suspect that if there are any who arent nutters, they are in such demand, that I wouldnt get a look in.

Why would you want to stay with someone who is violent and aggressive warped? Even if it's only when shes drunk it can't be tolerated or you will become accustomed to it. I'd stay well clear and find a woman who isn't mental, there are plenty out there.
I tolerated a very childish and immature girlfriend for way to long. Her sulking and mood swings just got worse until she ended up stabbing me with a carving knife. suffice to say that was the end of that relationship and any dealings with unhinged people in general.
