what is the penalty should you be stopped & found out that your L plates should be displayed when the officer clearly see's on your licence & bike that it should be & it isn't?.
fine???,....points???.
mate got stopped earlier on by unmarked traffic!!.

3 points per plate if they want to be arseholes. Not sure if there's a fine, but let's put it this way, if they do him for lack of front and rear L plates it is potentially 6 points which is loss of licence.

Hmmm dodgy dodgy. It really is better just to swallow your pride and keep them on. Or at least remanents of them, and try the "they just fell off story".


Though Scoobs is right, if they want to be tough the police can issue three points per missing plate! Shocked

Its 60 pounds per L plate not displayed, plus 3 points for each.

The police man would have to be in a really bad mood to do you for that though, so long as you are polite and everything they tend to let you off with just a warning.

I got pulled over for only having the front L plate on my bike, I just said 'Well sir it was definately there when I set off,'

I think that 6 points to a new licence holder equates the need to retake tests, but not necessarily a ban...? But because non-licence holders don't have a licence to lose, they'll only be affected by insurance premiums.
