I've just applied for a DR job at my local pizza hut. I really don't know what to expect really. They only run 50cc mopeds but they won't take you unless you have a full license.

What does BCF think? Will I be bored as fuck or take a perverse pleasure in ragging a 50 through plymouth laden with pizza?

Won't take you without a full licence? Didn't used to be the case...

Anyway, yes you will have heaps of fun. I did this through Uni and the freedom of not worrying about crashing it means you can properly take the piss. Top tips include standing up and pushing down hard on the suspension as you go over speedbumps flat out, timed right you can get some decent air. We eventually got peugeot scoots with good brakes at which point stoppies became the order of the day, along with massive skids into tight corners and roundabouts supermoto style. The other good trick we used to play with each other was approaching a colleague in their blind spot then standing up on the bike and kicking their box to try and knock them off their scooter Thumbs Up Alternatively, if you saw a colleague stopped at a light just ramming them at surprisingly high speed from behind or to the side slightly was always fun. I also once managed to bring a stoppie down sideways onto my buddy when he was sat at a light.

Basically that job is a hoot.

*disclaimer....any damage done to the bikes was irrelevant as they never stayed with us for more than year before they were stolen during the old fake delivery to top floor flat trick. They never wore out in their working lifetime.

That was indeed the branch I worked in but it would have been earlier than that, good to see the shenanigans are continuing though Laughing

Does the patch of tarmac in front of the shop still look like the starting grid at brands hatch?

ah yes something i know all too well, im a pizza hut scooter boy/ manager at my store and have been for 3 and a half years.

the cbt thing is correct in a way, if you have a cbt and want to ride their bikes they will send you on a 2nd day cbt which costs them money, so many stores state full licence so they dont need to pay for training. for the love of god use your own helmet, pizza hut ones are such shit quality and have been abused, all of ours have been dropped down the stairs at least once, also you dont want to share other peoples helmets.

as its coming up to winter you should invest in some extra gear as their stuff is shit, your own gloves are a must as pizza hut ones are useless, also wear a gd few layers under the jackets and trousers as they will no doubt not fit properly so extra layers should be handy in the event of a crash.

sadly now pizza hut are phasing out the honda sh50's for the peugot ludix, these scooters are shit, if you do get these try and get the later model one as the imobiliser has been removed due to the incredibly shit quality. at winter time you will likely need to leave the engine running non stop as the kickstart is crap and the battery dies so quickly when cold.

scooters arnt that fun to rag sadly, the old ones were a bit more fun and a tad bit quicker. only good thing is that you dont need to pay for any damages to the bike, so is an excuse to try and take corners a bit faster each time Smile

min wage, but tips make up for it. on friday saturdays u'l normally get £15 to £30 but it depends on where your shop is, a friend in glasgow city centre kept all his tips in the shop safe and got it all counted up in august since xmas, £1500 which is pretty good.

So you keep tips! Thats a plus, one place I used to work took all the tips then shared them out between the employees. That was A Good Thing tho at the time as I worked in the kitchen.

Even if its min wage, it should be enough money to feed my petrol habit and buy parts, with. It is riding (after a fashion) after all so I hope I'll enjoy it a bit.....

Last job at morrison's I hated with an absoulte passion!

With the full license thingy, the manager bloke said that normally Pizza Hut sends people on like some assement course or a special test in London. This being plymouth they can't be arsed to ship people all the way upcountry so they solve the problem by going after full license holders...

heard horror stories of the pizza huts in london, some of them are veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerry dodgey, lots of muggings etc.

also not all pizza huts use scooters so you wont be able to be a bike rider at those stores. generally company owned shops will have scooters while franchised ones may or may not have them, depends if the owner wants them or not.

Both Domino's and Perfect Pizza in plymouth use car deliveries only....

It was quite funny becasue I walked into dominos geared and asked "Hi, do you guys do deliveries" to which the reply was "Yeah we do mate but its all cars I'm afraid". I mean damn, I didn't even ask for the job before he knew what I wanted!

I suppose its the only sort of DR job there is down here... Not many letters need to be forwarded to people rapidly.

Also how does one break into the DR game proper? There must be a few ex-DR's on here?

Not sure if Pizza Hut in Cardiff use scooters/bikes for delivery, but when I was in Uni there, the Dominos on Crwys Road was always advertising for delivery staff (whether it was their vehicles or your own I can't remember though).

That's what I've heard a few times as well. Once I heard some chavs say they called for a pizza only to knock him off and take his bike Shocked

I guess it depends what area you are in

I work for a pizza hut retaurant, we were told we could use our own bikes however had to wear their jackets and lid (as uniform) the only downside was that there was no fuel allowance and our own store wasnt allowed to offer a delivery service due to it already doing takeaway and restaurant meals.

I used to do it for Domino's, it was OK but I was always getting abuse, chavs throwing things at me, etc.

I'd still be doing it if it wasn't for that.
