I wonder how you pack your baggage in top case/panniers. I usually put my baggage in my day pack, and then throw it in my top case. I haven't tried putting my baggage directly in top case and carry top case like a bag.
Apparently I am not using the capacity efficiently. I usually don't remove top case from my bike.
I see many of long tourers bring top case/ panniers into hotel rooms with them but how do they pack their baggage in cases? Do they pack their clothes or something directly in cases?

As long as it is waterproof I see no problem with that.

only consideration i would have is if you only half fill the box and then opt to carry using a carry handle everything will move inside the box.

not great for iron shirts etc

I always put rain wears and tool bags in top case, then they already fill the half of my GIVI E470, and when I put something not so big, there's no room. I'm not good at packing Embarassed

I put things in bags so I don't have to take the cases into the hotel - they're too bulky to carry easily, especially when you've got helmet etc to carry as well.

Depends if you're staying somewhere for a few days or just one night, I suppose.

My panniers clip together and have small wheels on them which is handy I suppose. Never used them like this though. Laughing
