I ordered some touch up paint for my bike, and im just having trouble doing it. Im trying to fill in some chips which are fairly small but find it hard not to get it on the surrounding area, i try to rub it off but it just takes it all off. Then i put the laquer on one of the chips once i done the blue and it had dryed but it has let a visible mark where it has been touched up. It is starting to piss me off.

Is it a touch up bottle or spray?

You want to fill in the chips as well as you can when you go over it with the paint, then use some T cut to make it nice and flat, bare in mind that the paint on your bike wont be an exact match as its been exposed to sunlight and changed the tone slightly.

T cut is abrassive, if you keep hacking away at it with T cut it will take it down, your not going to get a perfect finnish, you need to rub down the panel strip it of all its paint, find a aerosol match and then spray it then laquer it. Touch up paint is what it is, touch it up and leave it, i worked on a bike today that had been touched up, you can tell from 5 miles away.
Is your lacquer spray or brush? if brush your not going to get a good result, all you can do is splash it on and Tcut it down.

Yeh the lacquer is brush/touch up. The damage isnt large enough to merit a strip down and respray. I will continue with the T cut and do my best with the lacquer.
The lacquer seems to go all glossy and shiny when i polish it though? does this mean i can no longer polish this part of the tank?
You cant see the touch up 5 miles away thank god.

If you use TCrap to smooth it down you will polish through the paint immediately surrounding the spot before you get it level... Rolling Eyes

My mum just fucking scratched the rear of my bike! She got something out of the garage and accidently pulled it past my bike and scratched it! its as though my bike is just a scratch post.
This is rather obvious so i need to do a good fix, im going to use spray paint instead of the touch up blue paint. Will i need to lacquer the spray paint?
