 |
|
As the Mrs was getting on my tits this morning decided to get out of the house so went off to the gym ..... anyway hit the sets flat out and after about 35 minutes started to get a bit dizzy and thought i was going to puke. Was after drinking a bottle of some sugary electrolytic drink which didn't help.... but took about a half an hour to get to get back to myself.. ..
Anyone else make themselves sick from excersise .... can't be good for you, is it ? |

It`s not good for you because it signifys CNS overload (central nervous system).....but it also shows you were training hard and thats a good thing.
If you give anything less than 100% in the gym, you`re wasting your time....but always make sure you take adequate rest periods between sets instead of going flat out. |

I used to find if I hadn't eaten properly then I would feel dizzy after a hard session on the weights. Eat about a hour before you go to the gym. ____________________ ***Previous: GPR50, FZ750 *** Current: Monkey bike, yella SV 650 ***

Many years ago, a mate of mine and I went on a mountain bike ride to Dartmoor, I was living in Saltash at the time. I rode 10 miles to his house, we cycled to Dartmoor and did 50 miles of riding round, culminating in a flat out sprint back down the Plym Valley Railway footpath. I then cycled back home again, all of this was on an August day in about 28 degree heat.
Despite many energy bars and loads of water all day, I had to stop halfway home because I'd exhausted myself. I sat in the shade and drank water and had another energy bar, then very slowly cycled home.
When I go there I didn't know whether to puke, eat something, sleep or all three. In the end I managed to avoid puking but it took me hours to recover.
Cheers

People chunder following/during exercise on a regular basis in army PT and march+shoot sessions.
A few quotes from the delightful (ex para) PTI I had when I was in the TA.
"Are you going to be sick? If you're sick in my PT hall I'm going to look and if there isn't blood in it, you can clean it up with your hands."
"If anybody feels the need to puke, go out through that fire door and do it, but I'm warning you, you'll be giving me another three circuits when you get back.".
"You are a lazy bastard! If you don't throw up when you drop out of one of my bleep tests, you weren't trying hard enough!" ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

When i used to run an MMA club, it was always a good test of heart and 'fighting spirit' - during their first few classes, if someone either bled profusely, threw up or passed out and still wanted to carry on afterwards, then i would judge them as to having a strong heart.
Lots of people came for a few classes, threw up, passed out or shed blood and then decided it wasn't for them. A lot of people with a good TMA background found the contact a bit much - one kung-fu guy stormed off the mat, never to be seen again, huffing about 'well, i never expected to be punched in the face like that'. Well, what were you expecting, a game of pattycake?
I still remember my first sparring session at boxing - we'd set to do 5 x 3 min rounds. During the first minute, my coach popped me one right on the nose, dizzying my head and bursting my nose. He could see i was in trouble, so held off to give me a chance to recover my composure. Then he waded back in again.
Although the claret was flying everywhere, he never gave me the opportunity to quit. Every time i dizzied, or tried to wipe the blood away, i'd get a curt 'It's just blood. Don't you fucking quit on me you fucking pussy' growled at me.
This, from a man whom i consider to be one of my best and closest friends! ____________________ Space Monkey #7

Several years ago, a couple of mates decided I needed to get fit and took me to Fenners Gym in Cambridge where we would do a session in the machine room, circuit training and then an hour on the weights. About the second visit, while doing the circuit training, I felt sick and as there was no nearby bog, I ran to the window, (we were on the first floor). I threw up outside and when I looked down I realised I had covered a couple of young lads from the local private school whos bright purple uniform inc caps was enough to make you throw up anyway |

I puked from over exertion on a sports day when I was about 15, I'd not eaten much all day as I never did, several people dropped out of races and I took their place. I ended up running the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m almost one after the other, walked off afterwards I gave a close by tree a present. My geography teacher then started interrogating me as to whether i'd consumed any alcohol that day, even after telling him what I'd done he still wasn't convinced
I've also felt sick after 10k runs sometimes, it always occurs when I haven't eaten much beforehand and the first thing that passes your lips after the exercise just makes it worse. |
