Hey guys.
Im aware what im doing is either stupid or will ruin my fuel economy/increase my revs quicker but im putting a 45 tooth rear sprocket on my GS500.

Mainly as i want the acceleration, also I do a little stunting, so would like to wheelie a bit easier than the 41 ive got.
I reckon top speed to be about 90-95, which is fine, as im only ever sitting at 70.

Question is...my chain.
Obviously if you change a set of sprockets, you change the chain aswell and vice versa?

Im just wondering, i keep the 520 pitch, but do I have to get a longer chain, say ive got 110 links, this time get 114 or something?
Would prefer to ask you guys than go and splash out on sprocket and not be able to get it running Razz

Also Karma to the guy who finds me a chain...preferably cheap as possible, i know i will run it down super quick being cheap, but this is purely for the next 3 months Very Happy

It might pull the rear wheel to far forward if you don't get a longer chain.

I went 2 teeth up on my CBR and the rear wheel is very close to touching the swingarm, so Ive gone 1 tooth down on the front!

You could just go 2 up on the rear and 1 down on the front, they say 1 down on the front sprocket is the same as going 2 up on the rear, so it should be around the same as going 4 up on the rear, but without the need to get a longer chain! I only paid £43 for my front and rear sprockets.

Well im getting a VERY cheap deal on a rear sprocket, hand made etc..looks quite nice thats why im kinda keeping that..
Also the front going down 1 will wear my chain out even quicker Sad

Wouldn't the price of going -1/+2 be cheaper then getting a new chain though?

It would be the same as going +4 in the rear, so I would imagine you would get more bottom end, so yes, it would be easier to wheelie.

Try to get your suspension set up aswell, a suspension set up specific for stunting will make it alot easier.

I can balance the GS500 on stock gearing. It's your technique, not the bike.

But gearing will make it easier.

Hence why stunters usually have massive rear sprockets, makes slow speed wheelies alot easier.

Yea im using for stunting and the occasional trip to work a few miles away...I would prefer to give it different gearing for that.
I can get the front up, just prefer to be able to get it up a bit easier than current..My bike has a proper gash aftermarket fairing and has the worlds heaviest brackets!
