Hi

First post - looks like a nice forum.

So, I took my module 1 test this morning without having any previous practice on a course. I had to do the swerve bit twice since my bike is very slow to accelerate but got there second time with 52Kmh.

I got one minor for rear observation after (I thought) the test was over and he said "please drive out of the course gate" and I didn't look back (its a closed enclosure so not possible for there to be any vehicle behind and like I said I thought it was test over - clearly not).

The only other fault was a "serious" one for not stopping after the swerve with my front wheel alligned to the end of the blue box. FFS. I am sure he just told me to finish up "in the blue box". How am I supposed to know that its a serious fault for stopping with back wheel in the four cones and fron wheel out? What is a "minor" fault in that excersise? Sad

Part of me wonders whether I could appeal on the grounds that the instruction given is not clear but I know for 15 squid that's just a waste of fking effort.

Seems almost impossible to do without any instructor tuition - I guess they see all the fails and the reasons.
I think now, I'll now not do it on a 125 and take DAS - acceleration up for 50Kmh might be easier too!

Just do the test again, it's only £15, DAS will cost you much more.

Just make sure next time you stop with the front wheel inside the box of blue cones. When you stop at a junction do you make stop with the back wheel on the white line?

Stay in 2nd gear and rag the engine for all its got and you should accelerate easy enough for the 50+kph, it's only just above 30mph after all.

Unlucky mate, it sucks but chin up and try again Wink And the kymco pulsar...I had to do my test on that bike, congrats for getting it up to 52kph in that short space of time, the one I rode had an irritating problem of kicking itself back into neutral Laughing

Unlucky, I failed mod1 first time too. I was soo embarassed.

I failed on stopping, my front wheel was just out of the box and I didn't stop quick enough on the emergency stop. I creamed it the second time and you will to.

Good Luck on getting that pass mate.

Thats unlucky.

On my first attempt of module one I stopped with slightly more (and I mean slightly more lol) than the front wheel in the box after the swerve so that was that one failed lol wouldnt have had any minors but never mind. was annoyed as I had never done that in the training.

Second attempt was fine though- you will be more aware of the mistake so you will do it better. I passed second time with no minors.

Best of luck next time- Im sure you will do it!

i just have been out practicing at the test centre for mod 1 this afternoon great help it was to be able to go round and round so you can get it right with swerve and feeling how fast you need to go ..
and same with the emerg stop, even on an 550 its hard work but you get use to it and all good for next week for the test.. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

its not as bad you think when you done it a few times..

and know you have done it next time you be ok and pass..

you know where you went wrong, and the test is over when he says so..not because you going into car park..

but good luck next time Thumbs Up

Many thanks for the support guys.

My ultimate goal is to ride something other than a 250 so I think I will wait until direct access.

Btw, I do agree that to pass mod 1 on a 10bhp machine requires the rider to open up the throttle to the max in 2nd gear. What the hell does that prove about your riding skills?

It proves that you do the big circle around 20mph and can open up the throttle before leaving the corner and able to lean in a reasonable angle..
On a 500 you don't have to prove your skills Very Happy
