What is happening when you've just turned your bike off after a ride and it's ticking

I could Google but this takes just as much effort Thinking

Its an engine thing..probably cooling down after being ragged like a mother

Think it's as simple as the exhaust mainly, or other metals cooling down, and contracting.

I think it's mainly the exhaust header pipes cooling and contracting in the exhaust outlet. When running they get extremely hot (600+ Celcius - you may even see them glow red), and expand quite significantly.

All it is, is the bike Tutting at no being able to stay out and play ... when you enter your house it stops Tutting as it knows its gametime over, my dog does similar, but its more like groaning that tutting ... Thumbs Up
