Finally picking up the new bike tomorrow morninng, After months of saving every last little penny. Its a 1999 R1 with 5,000 true miles on the clock. Owned by an old family friend who has an OCD in cleaning and only rides on sunny sundays, dressed in matching powerranger clobber. Kitted out with Ohlins steering damper, harris rearsets, akro racepipe and lots of bolt on shite Mr. Green

I don't really know why I posted this on here, but, after months of being back on the 125, its like christmas come early.

I will post some pictures tomorrow, its an absolute minter.

Thumbs Up

It seems a shame to reduce such a sorted bike to rust over winter with all the ice and salt Sad

Laughing Im gonna ride it until it starts to get icy then swap to my "proper" winter hack which is my GPZ305. Im gonna hold on out the 1 as long as possible though. The bike is there to be ridden after all.

What a gay bike, you'll never be worthy enough. Best stick with the 125.

Been riding it around town all day when it decided to cut out while idleing. Got it home to find the battery is running low. It seems to just be running on the alternator, with a tiny bit of juice running off the battery itself. It has been sitting in a garage for over 6 months so I guess that is what done it. What do people recommend? going for a long fastish ride down some A roads or just buying a new battery tomorrow.

Thanks all Thumbs Up

Does it idle/rev okay? Perhaps stale fuel...how about some injector cleaner whilst you're shopping, just in case?

If you're thinking about riding that through winter, I'd change those Dunslips.

Yeah, ive heard the dunlops are pretty shocking. It idles ok sometimes after the battery has been charged up slightly. Its carb'd so no injectors to clean. The carbs have just been cleaned so that shouldnt be the problem. Im pretty sure its just the battery (hope)

Thanks for the comments
