Just been looking at them, And thinking of getting a set for the ZX6.

Was wandering if there was any benefits of having them e.g. Better braking etc, Or are they more cosmetic.

Any help would be appreciated.

They're supposed to help clean the pads better thus can give a bit better braking, however may lead to increased wear too. Might also be lighter, which aid various things.
Make sure you get a reputable brand - the cheap Chinese ones have very questionable build quality apparantly.

The basic idea is to reduce spinning mass, this reduces the gyroscopic effects compared to standard discs. Therefore a bike with avy discs should be more 'flickable'

In reality, unless you are using it for racing I doubt any notable difference will be there ... so it is more cosmetic really! Thumbs Up

You might want to consider the fact that wavy discs are well known for EATING pads BTW Wink

Think you should be looking more into better calipers/ master cylinder than discs.

Braking power from the 6pots is pretty poor most of the time Laughing

Presuming the above are not faulty, then your biggest gains will indeed be from new discs and pads - you just don't NEED wavy ones to get the gains!! Wink

Been looking at them on other bikes, Had the feeling they where more for cosmetic.

Already got some EBC HH Sintered pads, and HEL Braided hoses on the bike (Well, Ready to go on)

Seen the ones on ebay, and they don't look very good quality. Been looking at the Armstrongs ones in the new demon tweeks book.

I know not to skimp on the brakes after an experience with one of my old cars!

Only real world benefit is them being lighter.

There's a negligible(Questionable?) advantage over their braking ability but every test I've read(Bike mags) regarding their braking advantage is...

1: so small it was only recognizable on paper.
2: could also have been attributed to the testers right finger control and his(her) confidence. (Due to how small the benefit was)

They look cool apparently.
