PostPosted: 16:24 - 10 Nov 2009    Post subject: Another what bike question... Reply with quote

Since my varadero was stolen 3 weeks ago and with my insurance pay out due into my bank account on friday i think it's time to start looking at another bike. Very Happy But what??

It has to be reliable,
good on fuel,
and be able to withstand a 54 mile commute everyday.

I have looked at getting another varadero, but a part of me wants something different this time, and i have 2.5k max to spend.

Any ideas??

From what i've seen of these bikes (sadly haven't ridden either yet) you would probably enjoy either of these very much, but I'm not so sure they would be perfect for commuting.

If you had the 125 before then that probably beats the crap out of a 500 on fuel economy for a start.

Which size bike did you have before?

lol as long as he isnt in london/manchester.. its fine for commuting, i do it every day to work. Smile
Sorry, should have let you have a go on my GS..totally forgot!
Also my 500 runs horribly rich and drinks petrol Sad
I would say if you have to stay 125, try out a Hyosung GT125 or GT125R...definately lovely bikes! Huge, so you wont feel like a baby, great economy, cheap parts Very Happy

Look mate, I like you and all but you don't half make it difficult to respond to your posts without a considerable amount of awkwardness involved Laughing

So um yeah... you said you might ride at least some of the way to the meet this sunday possibly? Wouldn't mind having a bit of a go then Thumbs Up

So a commuter bike isn't that great for commuting. Hmm, thrashing the nuts off a 125 or cruising on a 500. In the past I found I got similar fuel consumption.

I don't disagree that cruising on a 500 commuter isn't great fun to ride, but on Sunday I went on a 150 mile bike ride with padwaxk88. I was on a CG125, he was on a GS500. I used about 7.5 Litres of fuel and he used about 15.

And yes, that was with me thrashing the nuts off of my bike. So your fuel consumption argument in my eyes is void Razz

The bike i had was a varadero 125, so the next has tobe a 125 as taking my test is not an option as the bike is my only means of transport and i need to get another quick.

I'd get another Varadero if I was you, no other 125 is going to cope with the mileage as well.

This time lock it to something immovable.

Cheers

GTRs are great looking bikes (IMHO) and nice to ride...but are slow. My aged RXS100 sees them off without much trouble. If you can live with that, excellent all round bike.
