Hi. I need to remove the battery on my bike (CBR600RR), but the alarm goes off immediately when it auto-arms itself when the battery isn't in.

Any ideas how to get around this?

How does the alarm get power without the battery?

When I disconnected mine, the alarm went off for a few seconds when i was unscewing the last terminal. It stopped as soon the terminal was removed from the battery.

I'd imagine it's got it's own power supply. It definitely goes off with the battery removed. No idea where it's located though. Whilst seeming very secure - it's seems a bit restrictive to not be able to remove the battery from the bike! Neutral

It should have a 'service'/'valet' mode ...

Letting us know the exact make and model of the alarm might help!! Rolling Eyes

Yes, but it auto-arms after 30 seconds.

Your post made me think to look through the stuff I got from the previous owner! I feel stupid for not looking before posting! Doh! I've found some documentation on it, and found out how to go into service mode. I'll try it tomorrow. Shame that the docs say it'll beep every 15 seconds! Given that I wanted to charge my battery overnight (as it's currently completely dead) - I don't really want the fact that it's in service mode advertised to every passer by Sad

My datatool alarm did the same the other day. Check that the fuse hasn't gone, Mine had and was causing mayhem with the neighbours!

It's only doing it when I remove the battery, which according to the docs is one thing the alarm checks for. So I don't think it's malfunctioning in what it's doing. Just annoying that it'll be beeping every 15 seconds whilst I charge the battery Sad

Put a bit of duck tape over the siren orifice and then wrap a rag round the whole thing ... it'll muffle it right down to almost nothing!! Thumbs Up

Just about to try that, but I can't find it! Rolling Eyes It seems to be coming from under the seat kind of area, but there's nothing obvious I can find when taking both the passenger and pillion seats off. Also looked from below, and can't see anything. Any ideas where it's likely to be? This 15 second beeping is rather loud! Sad

I ended up just giving it a small charge, and putting it back in. I've just bought a new battery which I'm I've going to leave on trickle charge overnight in the flat. The old battery goes flat quite quickly anyway, so will put the fully charged new one in next time it goes flat.
