Oh well, that's a shame isn't it.

People feeding ducks/pigeons/birds are fucking annoying because it causes loads of the birds to stand around there which I'm sure is great if you're wanting to feed them, but it's not so great for pedestrians or cyclists.

Be nice if Reading got some wardens to go giving those fines to people near the canal feeding birds. Very Happy

A "park warden". What beggars belief is she had to have given him her details and accepted the ticket. What goes through the minds of these people? Oh yes, they're intimidated. Guy in uniform, "I must obey!" She was probably worried that if she told him to shove his ticket and walked away she'd be tazered, thrown to the ground and cuffed. Because that's how it goes these days in this toilet of a country.

I've never understood why anyone would think to introduce quotas for catching law breakers or rule breakers, I mean if no ones commiting the crimes or infractions then why meet the artificially high quota by screwing people over for the sake of achieving the satisfactory number of recorded gits.

Because it costs a certain amount of £ to employ such a person, and a person who is employed in such a manner needs to get so many hits to be able to break even.

Manchester parking enforcement (who lost the contract a couple years ago) effectively said to their staff they needed a minimum number of tickets per day or they were fired. This led to desparate parking attendants ticketing buses in bus stops, pouncing on cars where the owners walked to the ticket machine and all sorts.

You can be noble and quit or just do it to pay the bills, a bike cop in Manchester the blue pan European biker guy quit his bike cop job as he said the targets were getting too high and he thought that the rules were changed such that he was a glorified tax collector and that wasn't his job as he felt that it was secondary to him enforcing good driving..

He quit.

It's all about the money. Everything in this fucking world has become about the money. Life is just one long daily gouge after another, lead from the top down. Small wonder almost everyone is sick of it.

Have these people never heard of the term 'false name and address'?

erm sorry if this boils your blood even more, but Litter wardens in Manchester are generally escorted by police officers.

Just walk away? You can bet that you wouldn't get very far before the babylons were there to give you a hard time. Feeding the ducks in the wrong place is a very serious offence. The law in this case is, I think, quackers!
Sorry, I couldn't resist straying into the childish joke area!

Yep, they would get the police to do yah:

"Failure to provide the name or address or giving false information is in itself an offence for which a person can be arrested by the police and prosecuted."

Probably best to leg it!! Wink

The wardens around Piccadilly and Market St certainly don't during the day, tho they often go around in pairs. There's a few undercover wardens tho they can be seen in groups of 2-4. Neither do much of any use.

Litter policing is very selective, unless its around the Town Hall where they're over zealous to impress the knobheads in the council like Karney.

Or do what I did with the last traffic-warden who gave me lip, shove him into a bush and smack him in the mouth. Just don't do it right outside your own gaff, when you've already been linked to a car that's registered to that address. In front of witnesses. And be seen going back in through the front door (just to remove any possible doubt).

Although, for a £100 compo order (paid off at £2.50 per week) and a year's probation (which was a year's free entertainment) it was well worth it. Laughing

And the next few months' worth of abuse me and my brother heaped upon him, leading to him moving away, was the icing on the cake.

Kapos, know your place.

If she was stupid enough to hand over her details then fcuk her, she deserved it. She should consider it a stupidity tax.

The two other possible options were:

A. Tell said warden to "Get fcuked"

Or B.

Point in to the distance and announce loudly "Someone's writing on that park bench"! and run away and leave the baby to take the rap, the nappy wearing, bread throwing instigator.

So, this is the thing that makes me stand back in disbelief today.

What is a 'Park Warden'? Is it an actual park-keeper as I understand it... gardening, cutting grass, grounds maintanance... or some mad African man with a helmet-cam and hi-viz. Probably the latter and in which case I would suggest they patrol the parks from 7pm-1am and dish out £75 tickets to the visitors that frequent parks at that time of night and see if they aren't picking bits of glass out of their face for the next fortnight. No, no, that wouldn't do... a young mother is a far easier target.

Pah. I had loads of vandalism at my park a few months ago, the police said they'd step up patrols and yeh... I saw a lot more of them IN THE FRIGGIN AFTERNOONS. Coz Mums, Dads and young children are just the sort to be smashing beer bottles on the goalposts.

I'm sure if the warden had said to the woman that there was a designated feeding area and would she mind using it, she'd have complied. That the warden didn't do so, uncovers the act as being revenue orientated and/or just heavy handed.

Unless of course she and her child are some sort of odd, duck feeding repeat offenders... I wonder how decide what constitutes litter, I don't see bread as being so and as far as I am aware, feeding ducks outwith a designated feeding area isn't a fineable offence (even a local authority offence...)

And finally, I can't stand litter so I get it that people need to be taught a lesson (in some cases, repeat offenders for example.) But seventy five quid? I reckon folks would think twice if the fine was £20 or £30, never mind £75. Or is that the level to which it becomes profitable... Hold on, it's not for revenue purposes...

They should probably just ban ducks, or people, or parks with ducks and/or people in them...

Wink

I was thinking that rather than kicking the park commandant in the balls or running away why couldn't she have just denied it? The proof I assume was gobbled up by the ducks. Unless she was photographed doing it. Would like to see the park lone ranger trying to interview the duck. Laughing "Now Donald, tell us what you saw"
Ahem, on a serious note what level of proof do litter police have to provide?
