Right, to cut a long story short i need to view some images on a CD (it forces you to use cdviewer, can't explore the CD and view them that way).

When trying to run the CD it comes up with an error saying i need MDAC's. Tells me to go into admin mode, re-insert the CD and it will do it automatically. Well, i am already in admin mode and it just fails epicly. Suppose i better mention i'm on Windows 7

When i went to view the CDs before (about 12 months ago) i was running Vista, i got the same error as i am now. Couldn't be bothered to try and figure it out as they did work on XP. Although i don't have access to XP now so i'm pretty stumped on what to do.

Any computer nerds out there that can shed any light on this will get multiple Karma cookies!

Thanks in advance. Smile

as far as I can tell this page is the msdn download page for the most up to date mdac version (2.8), there's also a link to service pack 1 for it on there.

I know Vista comes with mdac2.6 but I don't know if 2.8 runs under windows7, or even if it's suitable to install.. windows7 isn't listed as a supported OS so install at your own risk Smile

Tried installing them before i made this thread, didn't do didly squat.

Alexio - Hadn't though of that. I tried finding 'compatibility mode' in windows 7 and it found a program compatbility trouble shoot. It asked me what program i couldn't get to work, so stuck the CD in and selected CDViewer.exe and it asked me what OS it worked on last, told it XP SP3. It said it had found the problem and to save settings so i did. Put the CD in again and it installed mdac 2.5 and i can now view the CDs Smile

Thanks guys Smile
