Theres a Xiongtai 125cc trail bike for sale locally which is a non-runner. Has been stolen recovered , frame number still intact tho. 2007 model
Is it worth buying (around £150) to get running and sell on, possibly as a road bike if I apply for v5 or maybe just as a field bike. What are these things worth in good working order? Also - are parts common with other bikes? does it share a common engine?? Lifans etc? Any info about this bike and its value etc would be mucho appreciated

hi,
this will be a generic gy125.
156fmi engine.(cg clone)
tbh, its the bike (or one of them) thats giving chinese bikes a bad name, or rather a worse reputation.
shit electrics, dangerous tryes, shoddy build quality, cheap parts & downright dangerous welding.
they look good for the first month & then they rattle themselves to bits.
brand new they can be had for 400 (not registered) or 600 otr.
secondhand, i wouldnt pay more than £250-300 for a bike that has less than a couple of hundred miles on it, been kept indoors & in mint condition.
thats the only scenario when i'd buy one, as a disposable commuter.
there slow but very economical.
AVOID.
(& thats coming from someone who has owned numerous chinese bikes & has stuck up for them in the past)~
cheers,
GAZ |
