And before anybody says it China and India only have such high output of pollutants because they are manufacturing all the stuff that WE consume.

That is true yes, but American's; per person pollute more CO2 than we do. The British always seem to have to put their foot forward first so that everyone else can follow. Neutral

Any person who calls co2 pollution or points at another nation as a worse offender than there own deserves to pay "carbon tax" Thumbs Up

I have a question about these Carbon Foundation Ad's on the telly.

They had the one with the wee girl and her drowning pet etc but this new one where it tells us we need to drive 5 miles a day less states specifically that cars are the biggest contributing factor to CO2 emissions.

I didn't think it was? Or are they massaging the facts... I thought it was industry that was the biggest global polluter. I can't get youtube in the office here for the exact wording, but it seems to be a misrepresentation if they're stating as a fact something which is proven as not.

Question

In a 2006 report, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) concluded that worldwide livestock farming generates 18% of the planet's greenhouse gas emissions. By comparison, it said, all the world's cars, trains, planes and boats accounted for a combined 13% of greenhouse gas emissions.

Thats what I thought.

I'm positive in the advert it says something like Scientists say cars are the main factor in CO2 emissions or some such so we should try and drive 5 miles less each day or week or something. Incidentally, also with that nippy music in the back ground. I'm not sure how the managed it, but I didn't know music could be smug and condescending, but they managed it.

Thumbs Up

Walking to the shops ‘damages planet more than going by car

Walking does more than driving to cause global warming, a leading environmentalist has calculated.

Food production is now so energy-intensive that more carbon is emitted providing a person with enough calories to walk to the shops than a car would emit over the same distance. The climate could benefit if people avoided exercise, ate less and became couch potatoes. Provided, of course, they remembered to switch off the TV rather than leaving it on standby

they will come from every angle including a tax on your cats and dogs..also we will soon hear about how every item you buy will have to be recorded on your national id card to calculate your carbon allowance, something iv mentioned before and got a lot of criticism for as its "not true"..well the public are almost allowed to know Smile

It's nothing but what is expected to be suggested by someone, and a suggestion that it might happen within 20 years so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Quote:
An Environment Agency spokesman said only those with "extravagant lifestyles" would be affected by the carbon allowances.

He said: "A lot of people who cycle will get money back. It will probably only be bankers and those with extravagant lifestyles who would lose out."

So why bother Rolling Eyes It's either false and everyone would lose out or its true and a complete waste of time and money like most things to introduce something complicated for 60million people that only affects a few thousand with no benefit, I don't recall bankers being in the top list of greenhouse gas contributors.

That point I brought up above...

Basically the ad is cleverly worded. It says, that in the UK we can all do things to reduce carbon emissions one of which is to drive less, it's like 40% of our personal output (assuming you have a car...)

However, as a percentage of the countries carbon output, it's actually on the narrow side of fuck all so it's all a bit misleading.

Thumbs Up

designed to remove the wealth and control over ones life in all nations upon earth- nothing to lose sleep about no...you have to get your sleep because to overcome the artificial scarcity they Do intend to impose in your life your going to have to apply a lot more intelligence to your life Smile

I say tax those countries with volcanos that are not doing anything to stop the volcanos from erupting. Tax those countries who are letting their ice melt and causing the sea to rise 8 feet a year.

Really? I only drive 4 miles a day so that means I must be accumulating free miles at a rate of 1 per day! In fact, I spent the first 20 years of my life not driving at all so that must mean I can now go on a world tour with all the miles I've saved up!

Maybe they'll introduce some sort of car miles system... Except you don't get them for free... You have to buy them...

Do remember, your world tour will still kill fluffy bunnies.

Shame on you.
