So, I received my copy of TWO this month to find it's been renamed to 'Visordown'!

I know they have had an affiliation with Visordown for some time and they feature excerpts from the forum quite often, but to rename to it.......

Hi

Windscale principle. Get a bad name so rename yourself Wink .

Think they bought the Visor down forum a couple of years ago. They heavily revised it 18 months ago and lost most of its users (their current forum software is pretty dire, but apparently standard amoung the sites they run).

My father used to get TWO on a subscription. Borrowed it and read it sometimes and not impressed. Nor was he and when his subscription was up they kept coming up with better and better offers until he told them he wouldn't even have it for free.

All the best

Keith

Yes, it's not the best mag in the world.. so perhaps it's new name does suit it afterall!!!

If I could be less lethargic I would get around to cancelling the subscription! This month it's only about half it's usual size! Pah!

Whitham & Mackenzies columns are pretty good, but i wouldn't pay £3.65 a month just for that. Can't see a change of name doing much good.

Funnily enough I was reading a review on Visordown earlier this week and saw the advert for their "new" mag, I did wonder at the time how the market could stand another mag, and now it makes sense.

Are they still just printing out posts from the forum page after page and calling it a bike mag? If you want to read a forum, then thats what you do, why do they seem to think people want to pay for the privelage? Crapazine.

i did see it and wonder which bike magazine BCF would be best suited to takeover

(yes, i know this is the opposite from what happened with two/visordown but it was an idle thought).

BCF would be a magazine that is sold in seedy little shops where everything is kept behind the counter. The magazine wouldn't have anything to do with motorcycles and taking out a subscription would result in your name being added to the sex offenders register.

When TWO started is was a good mag, IIRC it was a spin off from a TV programme of the same name. had that little guy in it that does the commentary to the trials stunt riding show that goes round the North, he is a bike clothing supplier too.

I picked up the new visor down copy yesterday, what a waste of a tree.

"ride" i've found is better for new riders. (predominantly for the kit guides)

Not read TWO in VD form but I always thought it was ok from the perspective that its better than the likes of Fast Bikes and Superbike magazine, both of which are just mags for arseholes who basically want NUTS magazine with bikes in.

RiDE is too repetitive and theres very little new stuff in every month once you take out the guides in there.

Bike is a fairly decent mag, plenty of reading etc, while I find PB good for those who are interested in sportsbikes, but want an intellectual mag rather than the FB/SB rubbish.

Motorcycle Sport & Leisure tends to lean towards a general motorcycle audience rather than focus on the latest superbike every month

Hi

Used to read TWO occasionally. My father had a subscription. It was pretty dire. When the subscription expired he kept getting better and better offers to renew until it was virtually being given away. He still said no.

RiDE I quite like. Little of the macho posturing.

Bike is pretty good these days, as is PB which is a fair bit more technical. To me PB went badly down hill in the mid 1990s with almost a pride in how many bikes they had written off that month, but seems to have recovered.

Superbike many years ago was one of my favourites. These days I find it pretty poor (well above TWO though).

All the best

Keith

I think it was fast bike that described the new ZX10R as "Nuttier than a kid with ADHD on magic mushrooms" Laughing

I have a subscription too TWO/VD, I've been thinking of cancelling it for a while, there are only so many 600 shootouts I can read.

Shows how often you read it as SB doesn't have the wank ads, or boobies in it anymore. Wink

Bike's boring as hell now, started reading motorcycle racer of late. It's worth it just for the columns IMO (Chris Walker, Neil Hodgson, Tom Sykes, Cal Crutchlow)

I used to use it a fair bit, but just under 2 years ago they changed all the forum software and a few other things and the forum pretty much died. Most people went off elsewhere. Used to be quite a bit busier than BCF, now if it far quieter.

All the best
