Hi.

I have enjoyed browsing and learning from member's wisdom for a few days now.

I know to steer clear of Chinese bikes, but, what about CCM? Are they any better? RL 125/TL 125. Any reviews or experiences? Some of the bigger bikes seem popular.

Thanks.

It's a Chinese bike that's 'endorsed' by a small UK enduro/SM specialist manufacturer which itself doesn't have the best reputation for reliability. The CCM branding does give you some assurance on quality standards, but it's a much safer bet to just buy Japanese.

As said, it's a not a "real" CCM. It's a rebadged chinese 125, avoid!

Usually I was under the impression CCM stuff was pretty good since it's just a jap motor in a CCM chassis.

Just go for a 125 from any of the big names. It'll be far less hassle.

CCM is actually a bolton based bike manufacturer, the bigger CC bikes borrow engines from Suzuki DR600/650 and the BMW F650 rotax series.

But if its a rebadged then I'd avoid.

I have had a bit of experience with CCM's.
The cheap ones are made in the far east/china, then shipped here where they are basically pulled apart and reassembled in Bolton at the CCM factory.
For the money they are, they are ok. Better than the usual Chinese shite, but not as good as the Jap stuff.
They are quite slow too...
I'd reccomend going for a CG/XL to be honest Thumbs Up

The FT710's however, are fookin awesome Thumbs Up

Why do CCM bother with rebranding bikes? Could they not focus their efforts on their own machines?

Because it's a cheap way to make money - they just buy a set of stickers and order in bikes as they sell.

The bigger CCMs are ok bikes - they tend to be lighter and better specced than the japanese bikes they take their engines from.
Apart from the frame it's self, other chassis components tend to be pretty standard - for instance suspension is WP as used in KTMs, Brembo brakes, etc.
