Hello all

I am looking for a breath guard for my shark s500 helmet. I've been looking around for a while now but the only ones I can find are cheaps ones from Ebay or the stuff from the oxford range but i have been told to stay away from oxford products.

do any of you guys use them and if so which one?

Thanks

I have one thats part of my HJC helmet but i dont like wearing it as it feels like its chocking my face, plus i cant scratch my nose while riding lol, so far the anti mist on the clear visor works good plus i leave it open a tad.

My S800 came with one and to be honest, it's pretty useless.

If you're looking for one to prevent the visor from steaming up, I'd much more recommend an anti fog insert like this.

I bought my tinted visor from the NEC show last saturday and as soon as i stepped outside it fogged up almost immediatly. Even riding with the lid partially open while wearing a baraclarva it still fogged up pretty quick.

I needed to be riding 40mph + to get rid of the fog which isnt ideal Mr. Green

Just got a Foggy breathguard for my HJC HQ-1 and it works a treat.. without it my tinted visor fogs up within seconds at anything below 20 mph.

Cheers
Olly.

I used to wear one of those pollution masks, the neoprene ones from Respro. That sorted out over 10 years of commuting in all weather with limited fogging. It would still mist up in really cold, wet conditions, but it generally worked well...

...then I discovered Pinlock. Dunno if they do them for Shark, but I have clear Pinlock inserts on both my clear and tinted visors for a Shoei XR1000. Absolute magic. Used daily for the last three years without a single hint of fogging.

Pinlock doesn't seem to work for some people, but it's never let me down. I think competing products like Fog City etc are near enough as effective. I only use Pinlock because one came free with my helmet and I was converted.

Arai Pinlock combined with the lids built in breath deflector.
get more fogging arond the pinlock which isnt a huge issue for me, just hinders pehiperial vision a bit

Foggy for me.

I don't really wear it to stop the visor misting up, I wear mine to stop my lips getting as chapped, as it tends to deflect the air away from my mouth. However, since I got my new AGV it does have a tendency to blow ice cold air into my eyes on occasion... Shocked

Plus it looks cool when you flick your black visor up Cool

Used to use a Foggy mask but for them to be effective they have to sit very close to your face which means when you take your helmet off it has a tendancy to try and rip your eyeballs out of your face...

I now use my Streetfighters buff/neck tube ( in a very fetching Green may I add ), I have the visor open on to the first click to allow air to circulate and in serious instances of misting over I use sheer will power, as in " Come on come on come on, de-mist de-mist god dammit, I can't see shit, come on come on "*...

* Normally followed by sheer blind panic with not a thought of lifting the visor...

Errr can you clarify do you use an antimist spray on your visor or not? Because my HJC mists up something chronic, I haven't fitted the ludicrous nosepiece yet though.

Hi

Do you wear glasses? Having tried a breath guard a while back I found that they tended to just direct breath up either side of my nose and steam up my glasses.

All the best

I just used the original defog guard thing that came with my helmet. It was utter crap but looked cool. Confused

Sadly I lost it. It's now somewhere on the floor in a government building and can't go back and get it Sad

I just leave my visor open a bit which works fine most of the time but makes your face really cold. I want a mask to look like a ninja. (even though pirates are better Wink )

You'd never fit your lid over the hat, though. And I doubt any parrot could hold onto your shoulder at 70mph.

I can see this going off topic very fast lol. I would just glue the hat to the outside of my helmet. Wear an eye patch over the visor and the parrot can fly at 70 mph next to me. It's sorted. Being a ninja biker would be bad. Dressing all in black can't be good for visability, where as a hawaiin shirt would.

most of the time leaving the visor up abit solves the problem but since the temperature has dropped here between 2 - 6 degrees, my visor fogs up after one breath.

id like to keep my visor fully closed because i recently bought a tinted visor and it makes me looks cooooool Cool
(even though the L plates dent the image slighty) but still cool........ish Mr. Green

I got 2 visors when i bought mine one tinted and one clear, the tinted one does not seem to have a antifog coating, fair enough summer use only most likely, but the clear one has a coating on it which so far does a damn fine job of stopping fogging but it doesnt help against condensation building up on it, so i leave it open a tad all the time. And i make sure i dont use anything other than a microfibre cloth if it needs a wipe inside. but the hjc visors are expensive ive seen mine at £28 each.
