ouch. thats the fuel injected one i belive. you'll have a hard time de-restricting that without taking it to a dealer, and it depends on the dealer weather or not they'll do it because of your age.

run it in for 600 miles first, though Smile

Wait til your 17 and get a 125 or do your test!

Laughing

It should be electronically restricted (I think), so the main dealer garage can do it for you, they need to cut a wire.....

Technically you won't be able to ride it legally until you're 17, plus if you don't tell your insurers then your insurance will be void....

So as long as riding around on a ped you arn't licenced for with void insurance dosen't bother you, go for it!
Thumbs Up

yes it is the fuel injected one.

yes that is the only thing im not sure about, the whole void insurance. i dont like the idea of splashing out £2500 on a brand new ped to have it taken away from me for being un-insured....

I will have a good think about weather i will go ahead with it...
And yes it will do a good 600 + miles before anything changes .

Yeah if its a Runner SP Purejet then its a dealer only derestriction...

No wires to cut though...

It needs a different ECU program and the gearing restrictor removed. Wink

this is the thing - you wont technically be insured, but you arent going to get pulled over for no insurance. unless, that is, you do 50 in a 30 on you "restricted" ped Laughing

Which will probably mean someone with a full licence having to produce it.

We do them at work, just requires a parent to sign a disclaimer stating they know its illegal and that the machine is now for "Race Use Only" and shouldnt be used on the road.

I would be more worried about the fact you are riding without a licence.... As you are ouside the terms of your licence.....

Not sure if that would mean a ban, but would certainly not be cheap....
Then of course when you do come to ride legally, ins will be sky rocket high....

Er i think they may notice you doing that Laughing

Keep the weight down, dont wear loose clothing that flaps in the wind. Will all help a bit, but more from helping on not losing speed not gaining.

You won't be able to take off your exhaust in the time it takes the police to walk from their car to your bike.

Even if you did, i'm sure they'll ask why you're riding without an exhaust...

Remember if you are followed by an unmarked (or marked) Police car and they clock you doing more than 30mph on your moped they may do a PNC check on you and then will find out your age. If they do you may kiss good buy to your pride and joy as in the eyes of the law you are not licensed and not insured.

Nope! You have made a moped into a motorbike and will not be lisenced to continue riding the bike on the public highway.

I know its tempting as all your mates will say they have had it done. But with a new machine there is much more to lose if it happens. It's doubtful you will get targeted but there is a chance.

Does that mean when I hit an indicated 44mph on a restricted scooter down a big hill I could get done for not being in the terms of my licence and insurance?

FFS, get real here people.. i bet you will be hard pushed to find one moped in the country used by a 16 year old that HASNT been derestricted. personally, i TOLD my insurance that my dna 50 was dereastricted, and they just said oh thats not a problem, we'll list it as a modification. i didnt get pulled over because

1. i didnt ride like a twat (esp. not through villages ect)
2. i always wore my jacket gloves + prot. trousers, and therefore looked sensible.

Yes you would, as it mustnt be capable of more than 30mph... a std restricted machine wont do 44mph even down a hill. You might creep 33mph maybe... which is over the limit slightly but within the accuracy needed by a speedo so chances of getting done for it is tiny.
