Just had a very odd visit.
Working from home today when the door went and some guy stood there starts threatening to break my legs !

He was waffling on about how apparently i've been hacking someone he knows computer and changing their passwords etc.
The most info i could get was that its someone who knows my ex so that explains how he got my address.

This was a "friendly" warning and that if it happens again he'll be back with some "friends" to make sure i never walk again !

Charming.....

As i havent got a clue whats going on then whoever is "hacking" will obviously carry on doing it so i can expect a visit quite soon.

So any suggestions on what my options are?

Call the Police, no other course of action, at least then if he does try to follow up on his threat then you have a better chance of getting him nicked. He's guilty of threatening behaviour at the moment, which won't carry much of a penalty but is worth reporting anyway.

I would also keep a golf club (preferably a putter) by the front door, if asked, you were practising your putting (best get some balls too (sic)) in the front room when the doorbell went. Get the drift? If you had something to hand and just happened to use it to defend yourself then it is seen as an instinctive reaction, not pre-meditated assault with a weapon. Mind you, I'm not sure you could get away with 'Well, I was just cutting up some trees with my chainsaw ...' Mr. Green

Cheers

Mistaken identity happens, its just that online and computer esq it is harder to trace...

I was mistaken for somebody else once in Manchester town centre I was subject to a few seconds of savage beating until they stopped and realised they had gotten the wrong person.

He has however threatened physical violence which is enough to inform the police should you choose to do this.

Keep something nasty but with plausible deniablility at close at all times, say a hammer, while doing some wood work in the back room, total plausible deniability and incredibly lethal.

Would phone the police but then they arnt going to be much protection. Call this ex of yours who gave him the address and have words with her Mad Usually men like him are full of crap, why would be come to your door and threaten when he could just do it there and then. Full of shit. I would beat him up just for saying that if I was a man. If someone had of come to my house and said that there would have been a door step scuffle.

make sure you keep all your doors locked just in case though.

I'll give them a call and let them know.
Like you said at least then if anything kicks off i'm covered.
I have my tool kit and work bench in the front porch and there was a handy looking adjustable spanner that i was eyeing up.

What really annoyed me was that the person making the accusation didnt have the balls to do it themselves !

Thanks

Something I forgot to say earlier, if you report it and then have to defend yourself, it will stand up a lot better in court, if it ever gets to that, than some bloke appearing on your doorstep and you lumping them with a hammer or putter.

DF, I have to disagree with your opinion on this, if they had rung and threatened then I would have said 'Pussy', the fact that the bloke came round shows a bit more willingness to back it up in case it had kicked off straight away. You're right that the ex needs a phone call though.

Cheers

Spoke to the cops and reported it and got a ref number.
At least this way when this guy and his friends turn up if was to use a tool of some kind in my defence the cops are aware of it.

To be honest i'm more concerned about my son, the house, car and bike as they are easier targets.

So much for the quiet life Rolling Eyes

The bloke came round plus points but didn't do anything so he in the minus inform the coppers be a bit more wary but I must admit I agree with dragonfly, also Grim is right inform the cops then if he should pay another visit it does make your defense case stronger should it come to that.

I would of gone for him at that point and claimed he attacked me on the door step, I,ve had a few simular inccidents with the police at the front door in the past they,ve even strolled into the garage/garden when l,ve been working on my bikes looking for a guy who lives in the flats down the end of my road with the same flat number as my house, for some reason they are the only ones who make this mistake. Baseball bat/pick axe handle behind the door. Thumbs Up You could drive screws in the end of the bat, mace style, but that would probably kill them. (It looks fcuking ace though).

Use your hacking skillz to empty your ex's bank account.
Use your hacking skillz to put kiddy porn on your ex's computer.
Use your sense of decency to then report your ex to the police.
Make a call to the local paper to give them the story, that will help to drag her name through the mud.

Job done. Thumbs Up

I had a cop that was a biker turn up at my house when my neighbour caled them because she was harassing me. We ended up having great craic infront of my house talking bikes and I am sure she was raging.

Anyway sorry off topic.
This sounds like it goes deeper, why would your ex blame you? sounds like this guy either is her new boyfriend or is trying to get in her knickers so she plays the crying game and gets him to call around to you. "Oh boo hoo my ex bf is ruining my life help help, feel sorry for me and give me attention or I will do someting else and blame it on my ex! " new man beats chest and comes around to you. She probably told him all sorts of shite about you to. Mad

Set up a dummy CCTV somewhere near teh front door, or even a real one into your PC, if it happens again let him finish his rant and then say "hey look at that." People always look at where you point, smile at him thank him and tell him the sound and vision is being e mailed to teh Police directly.

I have put one of my web cams upstairs pointing to the front door so any future visits will captured.
Also got my bullet cam from the bike ready to go for any future conversations.
Dragonfly might be on to something though about the ex-wife.
This is just her sort of game but whats odd is the time he turned up. If i hadnt been home ill then our son would of anwered the door to this "thug" !

Right now i'm torn between calling her and ripping into her and saying f*ck the divorce cost ! and just waiting to see what happens next.

Whatever i'll be watching my back for a while. Being on the bike is going to feel very exposed if they decide to wait for me one morning and knock me off.

Thanks all for your support Smile

That sounds like a good way to get in a fight on your doorstep. Rolling Eyes

If you do set up CCTV and record someone making threats just go directly to the police, no point in showing off about the fact you've got them on camera. Rolling Eyes

Don't you have to have a sign showing saying that people are being filmed via CCTV ?...

If so get a small one made up for the letterbox / post hole / flap...

I think its him who should be watching his back after threatening you. He dosnt know you but your ex wife does she she has probably said your not into beating the shit out of stranger who threaten you on your door step. Its an idle threat and as you said there is a divorse involved in this so this is a can of worms. I dont think he will do anything to you, you have reported it, connected it to ex wife so if he does anything he isnt likely to get off with it. Police cant do anything till something happens so nothing will. Unless they plan on winding you up into doing something which I think your to smart to fall for.
