Palm Pre vs I phone

My I-phone 3g is up for upgrade. I like it, but its slow response, and poor battery annoy me. I've narrowed down its replacement to either a palm pre or a I-phone 3GS.

Palm has multi tasking, wireless charging and price on its side (Over 100 quid less than the i-phone)

I phone has the app store, I'm used to using it. But for 35 quid a month for 18 months its 185 quid. IMO a little steep!

So opinions please

I saw a review about the palm pre which said not to get it just yet. Wait until people have bought it and complained about the problems. They'll get fixed a new, better version will come out and buy that one. I fancied one when I saw it. I'm now looking at blackberry.
