Does anyone play on FTP? I've been playing there for the last 2 or so months and I'm finding it pretty damn good. Full Tilt Online Poker Series is kicking in so I'm gonna be lashing out quite a bit in buy ins but hopefully it'll be worth it. 50 dollar buy in for the main event gives you a shot at over 100k first prize..
Anyone had any big wins?

Im told 95% of online poker players are net losers...

I suspect the majority of players entering a large 50 dollar buyin tournament will either be following good bankroll management strategy by not wagering more than 2% of their bankroll on a multi table tournament, which means according to my shoddy math they have over 5 grand bankroll... Or are just taking a shot and hoping to get lucky, in which case why not play a purely luck game like the lottery and win more than 100k if you win?

Im becoming increasingly disillusioned with tournament poker if you couldent tell...

Nope, just poker stars, as ever. I keep getting told that poker stars is pretty much the best, and while I'm not sure if that's true, I'm far too lazy to try anything else when I enjoy it so much.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

I used to play on pokerstars but my credit card is incompatible, so I have to run my money through Neteller who charge a commission of like 2.5% on all transactions Confused
Why not play a pure luck game? Cause my odds of winning at a poker tournament are far higher.
The 2 bigger ones I've played (20 dollar buy in, roughly 11500 people) I've placed 1300th (just in the money), and 550th.
Yesterday I came 18th out of 500 in a 3 dollar buy in, but got knocked out by a big player. (AAA10 vs AAAK)
I'd never pay 50 dollars to buy in, but this is the main even. I wanna give it a try, and I'm guessing there'll be less crazy all in with 10 4 than in a 1 dollar buy in... It's also super stacks (7500 starting chips, 12 min blinds), so it's less lucky and more skilled than say 1500 chips 3 min blinds turbo.
If I lose at least I'll have played the biggest tourny so far and probably gained experience by playing against better players.

I was gonna reply that to someone playing at a level their bankroll can afford will know the scared money out there from guys taking a chance and might if anything be more likely to ship it with weak holdings.

But as long as you see it as you are paying that money for (x amount of time) entertainment rather than expecting a return then you'll be alright and play better poker too.

I bet if you play in a 50 dollar main event you will brick it when it comes to seeing a flop with suited connectors etc... You will wait for the premium hands and be fucked if you dont get much. ABC poker which can be easy to exploit by the kinda players attracted to main events(okay not WSOP but still).

I think im gutted that i have played poker for so long and am still so bad... or at least not a regularly winning player.

Im starting to think cash games are where its at for making regular money... If that is indeed an acheiveable goal for the average joe...

i used to play on pkr, but after calcuating i found that i only made 50 - 100 DOLLARS a month really, and that was wagering a LOT.

made the (much beter) decision, told them to ban me from the site, now put all the money i played with into my savings., it ramps up quick Thumbs Up

Doesn't really sound like you were playing it for the right motivations if you were wagering a lot just to get a little. What I count as "worth it" is the entertainment it gives me.

I allow myself to buy a maximum of $20 of chips a month (works out at about £12 recently) and slowly have fun gambling. When I play seriously I can almost always make a steady profit, but it's well below minimum wage at the stakes I'm playing.

I have my ups and downs and genuine moments where I lose a lot of money but have incredible fun doing so Very Happy All in all, I'm simply enjoying becoming better at the game all the time.
