M4 coming home tonight, 80mph, 3rd late with traffic all around me when I saw a wasp inside my visor. God knows how it got in there but after fighting myself onto the hard shoulder I pulled my helmet off and it flew off.

Shit myself with the bloody thing buzzing 1 inch from my eyeballs.

Genuinely my worst nightmare. I'm terrified of wasps, always have been, never been stung by one either so it makes it worse. You might say, "It's only a wasp!" but it's like any phobia, still don't like the things.

In time, you will learn, no need to panic, or stop and remove your helmet, simply fully open your visor and it will be blown away.

been stung in the face before while riding, not much fun. (had to just stop asap, luckily nothing around me.. thats when I was pretty phobic about any flying buzzy stingy thing)

at times like that you need to focus on whats going to be more painfull, a face full of sting or a face full of tree/lamp post/car.

Easy to say, but I suspect you don't go blue and stop breathing when stung by one of the little yellow and black bastards; Imonster, chucking perfectly good lids onto the side of the road at 40mph since 1996 Mr. Green

I could pretend that my ninja skills, and living in harmony with the wasp so it doesnt feel threatened have prevented me from ever being stung so I wouldnt know.

However, once when a teenager, drinking in the woods with some friends, I was stung on the nose, by a wasp that had tried to get a sip of the beer from my can. I then told everyone about it loudly, and a policewoman who had been sent along to tell us that we shouldnt be drinking. She did not offer sympathy and said she had already heard all about my nose, during the walk towards us Smile

Recently I slayed about 50 wasps as they had decided to make a nest in my house. I was a bit scared, but it's amazing what a few squirts from an aerosol fly wasp killer, will do.

More people are killed by wasps every year than terrorists. I reckon if we diverted the security budget, we could win the War on Wasps by Christmas.
