I bought a TZR frame, swing arm and rear shock from a mate of mine, I want something to keep me occupied in the shed over winter, something I can do as and when I want.

Here's a pic of it
https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/03092009122.jpg

I've already started on it, I've taken the torque arm for the rear brake off and sprayed it gloss black. I've sprayed one of my spare footrest hangers and frame rail in aluminium silver Very Happy pictures tomorrow

The lower suspension bolt is stuck fast though, I'm soaking it over night with wd40, and tomorrow will resort to the hammer lol

There's a massive list of stuff I need to get it remotely close to a bike XD

-CDI
-reg/rec
-bottom yoke
-forks
-mudguard-headlight
-fuel tank
-2t tank
-radiator + hoses
-engine
-rear light unit
-rear mudguard
-indicators
-side panels
-battery case
-battery
-front wheel
-rear wheel
-rear brake
-rear pegs unless i fit a solo seat
-seat
-throttle controls
-clocks
-ignition barrel
-airbox or a cone filter
-fuel tank cap
-boost bottle (yeis)

things ive bought will be BOLD

Nice Thumbs Up of course there are the hundreds of small things you'll be needing but I couldn't help but notice that one of the bigger and more important things that you missed out on your initial list was:

-Handle Bars
-Chain and Sprockets
-Inner Tubes and Tires

Good luck with the project.

Building that bike will cost so much money, your better off buying a complete one then doing it up.

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-TZR-125-COMPLETE-BIKE-SOLD-AS-SPARES-REPAIRS_W0QQitemZ180404698610QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycles?hash=item2a00f53df2&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

For example.

I'm going to agree with Chris.

Maybe you could try finding a write-off which then you can transfer all the bits onto the clean frame.

its one of things im doing slowly and as and when i find the bits cheap enough, to be honest i don't give a toss about the money, i'd probably end up spending just as much on a project one like in the link anyway XD . as for the bits missing off the list, i already have them in my shed, so don't need to buy them Wink

so far the plan is;
gloss black frame
gloss swing arm
silver footrest hangers
black wheels with *maybe* orange rim tape
orange body panels
twin headlights

opinions much appreciated Smile

Don't go for a solid orange all over, break it up a little with some black on the panels.

I think it will look good.

Right, picture update time Very Happy I've gotten most of the frame cleaned and rubbed down, just where the sidestand bolts on needs cleaning now, thats why in the pic its upside down lol. I've sprayed the down tube black and have clear coated it aswell, just need to do the swinger aswell. I'm waiting on a few bits to clear on ebay, namely an exhaust and some side panels (bought the pair for 1p!) among other odds and sods. updates as and when things turn up!

Just a quick update, I've had tons of bits through since my last post, but the CBR400 has been taking lots of time, I manages to put the front end together, but need new headstock bearings to continue. I'll hopefully finish painting the frame soon, and can start nailing it all together! I've also got to put the rear wheel and brakes into the swing arm, just a matter of finsing out what spacers I need first Razz

yeah, pretty much, i have the chassis number, but never got a plate or v5. i have to get yamaha to tell me what year the bike was made, ill then be able to get an age related plate.

When the weather gets a little better ill spray the frame and start putting it all together
