Hi im interested in getting a flyscreen for my YBR125 however im not too keen on the official yamaha ones, i want somethin simple but effective to enhance the appearance of my bike, i came across this one on ebay, it's made by Airblade. I'd just like anyones opinions of it or if you've got it fitted to your bike any pics. Cheers.[/b]

I think the Yamaha one is the best as my aftermarket one off ebay just fell apart within a month. This one has stayed on and looks kool. Very Happy

I did my cbt on a YBR with NO screen and i got batered about. I then bought mine and was offered the screen half price so i took it and it made riding at 60mph for 30mins feel like a dodle. And it makes the YBR looks so much sexier i think Dance! Laughing .

What screen is yours, is it a universal or a YBR125 only version.

How much does it cost?

cheers for the info, im impressed by the improvement that the official yamaha screen made as i get battered by the wind soo bad at 60ish, however £60 is a bit steep for a screen as i am a poor old student. im gna trawl the web and so what else i can find, keep the info comin......

A firm called powerbronze make all sorts of screens. They just fit to the headlamp brackets which are a fairly standard distance apart.

The type of screen you want is called a "fly screen", they do several different ones.

Had one on my last bike. Road tested up to 120mph.

hey guys jus reviving this topic again, i ended up buying the airblade (screen as shown above) for my ybr and when lining it up on the brackets the holes were too far apart.

I thought i may as well drill some new ones, however i ended up cracking the screen and one bit snapped right off........shiiiit! there goes £27.70 down the drain.

All was not lost though, with me being a design technology student i thought why not just make my own screen because i kept the mounting bracket.

So i went into school and got hold of some 3mm light smoke acrylic sheet, i drew out the shape on a separate piece of paper beforehand and cut it out then went round it again on the acrylic, cut the shape out, smoothed the edges, drilled the holes, put it in the oven and softened it so i could bend it into shape.

Finally i sprayed the inner side of it black and hey presto!

Here are the pics lemme kno what ya think, cheers

Pretty good, Although I'm not so sure with the bottom sticking forward. Can you not soften up and bend the tails back a bit? It would look great then

Simpler than that, the 'tails' don't look as if they are fulfilling any usefull structural or aerodynamic function.

Why not just chop them off neatly leaving a radius at the bottom instead of two points? (see picture) Be less likely to snap like that too.

By the way, looks a bloody good job you've done there. You wouldn't know it wasn't a bought one. Thumbs Up

Do you guys honestly suffer wind problems on your YBR's?

I ride one for work and it struggles to an indicated 72, im happy to stand up with both hands off the bars at that speed(private road officer), maybe my neck muscles are fantastic... I only really find windblast troublesome over 115 ish...

Without a flyscreen when riding at 50-60mph i found myself getting battered by the wind causing me to veer from side to side by about a metre each way and at that speed its pretty scary considering its the only bike iv ridden at that speed plus im 5ft 11 and bout 10stne so im not that built maybe that may be why i felt the windblast more. i do find with my screen the bike seems better planted to the road at high speed which gives me more confidence. what does every1 else think?

I think you'd notice a big difference in the higher speed stability if you removed the Mickey Mouse-ear mirrors. Unfortunately, this would mean you can't see behind you as easily.

you could bend the bottom bits up and outwards like an aeroplane in order to perform easier wheelies?

Looks like a good job anyway Thumbs Up

The thread is a little bit older, I know. But: Maybe somebody else finds this one with google. Smile

I got the same screen like treesey200. But I cut off a little bit of the wings. So it fits better to the (small) 7" headlight.

Original Puig screen (click on the picture to enlage it):

https://www.ybrfreun.de/blog/x_fish/images/090828_06_t.jpg

Cut off a little bit of the wings:

https://www.ybrfreun.de/blog/x_fish/images/090828_10_t.jpg

It fits much better:

https://www.ybrfreun.de/blog/x_fish/images/090828_13_t.jpg

The full story with more pictures (unfortunately just in german so far) is available here:

Greetings, Martin
