KLM/Air France have dared to go where other airlines dare not. They have announced plans to charge salad dodgers double fare.
Personally I'm all in favour of the policy. Cabin seats are uncomfortable and cramped and one of the things guaranteed to make a flight even more unpleasant than it needs to be is being seated next to a lard arse. I'd probably go even further than KLM/Air France and make the blobbies travel in the hold.
What do you think?

If they want me to pay extra, no problem, but give me more room for my money, Put the skinny twats in the small seats.

Probably just a matter of time before they start charging people by the kilogram. Charging the tubbers double is a bit steep, how do you police that though? Have a fat tick box on the website? or ask them over the phone; "Are you a fat bastard?"

There was a particularly obnoxious fatty on the other side of the aisle from me on the flight back. Was very close to asking him if he happened to be American, just to get the point.

Was fucking funny watching him eat his dinner with the tray wedged UNDER his gut.

They don't force people to buy an extra seat, but they offer a 25% discount if they choose to buy one for comfort according to what I read on the BBC.
Now, my question here is that if I'm buying two tickets for my wife and myself, and we (combined) weigh less than one obese person who buys two seats, why don't I get a discount?
I would fully support a "charge by the kilo" situation, or to have your weight combined with that of your luggage when checking in. Unfortunately I just can't see it being implemented anytime soon!

Better still pay by size of seat, no point charging us chubbies extra money for the same small seat, if they were adjustable that would be better
Have seat 0.5-0.75-1.0-1.25-1.5m wide, skinny people could have the 0.5m seats and us tubby lot could have the other sizes, charged accordingly. so if you have room for 4 seats, you could have 2 skinny 0.5s 1 medium 0.75 , one at 1.0 with a chubby at 1.25. total 4 seats.

I read a press statement from Air France the other day saying they had no intention of introducing such a policy. Can't find it now though, but i'm sure it's still out there.

Still would feel sorry for the exceptionally tall should anything like this ever be implemented.

I'd ban fat bastards from flying, end of. If there's an emergency, there last thing you need is some vast lard arse getting in your way.

I remember having three quarters of a seat to myself as the rather large lady next to me spilled over the arm rest into my space. Her equally large fella was sat in the opposite isle spilling over on to some other fcukers seat. I was pleased when the trolley dolly came over and offered them both seats at the front of the plane. I just smiled at the other fella that was being crushed and we gave each other the thumbs up. Then I dumped my paper etc into the now empty seat next to me. Thumbs Up

its oh so easy to say 'make the fat fuckers pay more', but what about the 6 foot 9 guy with a healthy bmi who is too big for the seats, why should this perfectly healthy person have to pay more than a short person??

why not make people who need a large t-shirt pay more than the guy buyin the small size? same with shoes

i agree that the proper salad dodgers should pay more, if it is their fault they are the size they are then fair enough, but also making the people with genuine disabilities pay more is wrong, does the person in the wheelchair have to pay more? surely in a emergency they'd get in the way too?

personally i think air france/klm have gone about this in completely the wrong way, not sure how they could have done it differently tbh

Personally I think you have gone about your post the wrong way. Read the press release, then jump to more informed conclusions.

It all seems quite reasonable to me, Only those who really need 2 seats would buy them, the chance of being reimburst 100% of the seat cost will only encourage people to buy 2 if they need them. If they don't get reimburst then, well they pay their way and some poor sod doesn't end up having their seat annexed by blubber.
