What's the best bit of advice you've ever received?

I was looking at a shitty flat that had half finished building works around it, and the estate agent said don't buy this, get yourself a house instead. He talked himself out of a sail.

Probably the best advice ever, as that flat is still surrounded my half finished building work, and doesnt really have any natural light.

It's mad because you don't expect a sales kinda guy to talk himself out of a sale.

Wear clean underwear when riding.

It would probably be better to find out if they were indeed a lady or a man beforehand anyway...

Some advice that's helped me out in life

- Put bog roll down the pan first before taking a shit to avoid splash back.

- If an item is incorrectly priced in a shop, the shopkeeper has got to sell you the item at that price.

- If you want to watch free porn look at www.youjizz.com, www.youporn.com and www.redtube.com

- Don't lie about anything, because someone will remember what ever it is you've said when you have long forgotten and make you look like a tool.

- When buying a chinese, if it doesn't smell/look/taste like chicken then it's cat!

- Do your CBT... (good bit of advice)

- All you need in life is WD40 and Ductape, if it moves when it shouldn't use the tape, if it doesn't move but it should use WD40

When i was seventeen, i received the following wise words from a man who was (so prematurely) on his death bed:

'A problem is only a problem if you can do something about it. If you can't do anything to change the outcome, it's not your problem, so don't waste your time getting stressed and worrying about it.'

I received similar advice years ago from an old fella, along the lines of.

Quote:
If you can sort something out, then sort it and stop worrying about it. If you can't sort it out, then it's out of your hands, there's nothing you can do, so don't worry about it.

I was under the impression that technically the pricing of an item is the 'offer to sell' so when you get said item to the till and the seller finds the price is incorrect then they can withdraw the item from sale. However, I think in practice if the incorrect ticket price could be seen to be a reasonable price, then most retailers adjust and sell for the ticketed price. If the 'wrong' price is obviously incorrect and the prospective purchaser should have known this, the retailer is likely to withdraw the item from sale, which is legitimate.

It's a long time since I did the legal stuff for my exams so maybe things have changed?!!

You and chris are probably right. I'm just going on what I was told. I guess most people don't know their rights as a consumer and therefore gave into my confidence in being right. It's not something I ever questioned just assumed that this must be the law.

With regards to shop prices.......... You are invited to buy, that invite can be revoked at any time. If they misprice something they do not have to sell it, some may show good will and honour the price, but they do not have to, what they should not do is have it priced at a lower price than they are charging at the till. They still don't have to sell it to you.
