I got home from London when the snow was at it's worst average speed about 6 mph. I saw 2 bike crashes and I managed to stay on had a massive moment coming down a fly over where the rear slid out to the right I have the front fully locked and was leaning down imagine a supermoto going round a corner but I was going in a straight line. I gave in a fist full and it found some grip and got upright again, I couldn't belive it I was sure I was going down. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. I walked home last night. I left work at 6pm and walked 4.5 miles in an hour and a half. All the hills around Wycombe were closed and the traffic was totally gridlocked through the whole area.
I stopped under the M40 flyover at Loudwater to chat to a courier who had stopped for a rest. He’d ridden from Windsor and looked exhausted. The slush on all the roads had turned to sheet ice. There was a fair amount of grip on the pavement and the only time I nearly ended up on my arse was while crossing the road. ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |

It took me 3 hours to get home the 10 miles from work last night! It normally takes me 25mins on the bike but I'm not taking the bike out whilst I have such a high chance of binning it. My local area near Sheffield has had several inches of snow and now it's been nicely compacted and then frozen solid. Then there's my work car park which they only seem to grit when no snow or ice are due - and the white grit they use makes the place as slippy as if there was ice on the ground anyway!
See I thought I'd go by bus instead, except the bus company had decided to stop running my route without telling anyone . So I ended up getting a different route that at least wouldn't stop too far from me, however the driver then got told to use main roads only as minor roads had black ice etc. Cue me having a 30min walk whilst being unable to feel my feet and slowly losing the feeling in every other area too...
I'm in the car today, now that's fun and a lot quicker than the bus. Just pisses me off that my local area and work area are so badly looked after otherwise I'd still be going in by bike coz at least the main roads are clear. ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

Can you believe it? No bugger wants a driving lesson in the snow. . What better time to have a lesson in someone elses car, under full instruction. ____________________ Famous last words of Humpty Dumpty. " Stop pushing me "

I've had to resort to public transport as although we haven't had much snow every thing is frozen solid for the last 3 days
good thing is the bus that gets me to work stops about 75 yards from my front door ____________________ DILLIGAF |

I don't remember it being nearly as bad as this last winter, apart from the snow in February but then it didn't ice over all the roads/pavements for a bloody week. It's ridiculous, can't go for a walk or ride as the pavements/road are an ice rink. Monday was the first time I've ever given in to it and took the train to work, getting shafted £20 for the bleeding ticket! Walking to/from the station was 'fun'. Hopefully it'll thaw out soon as the temperatures are going up. ____________________ CBT February 2008 | A2 June 2008 | Yamaha YBR125 (written off) | Honda CBF125 (current) |
