I think the water outlet from my washing machine/sink has become blocked probably with ice after all this snow and whatnot. Any advice how I can warm up the pipes without accidentally breaking them (I know my luck with DIY, it'll happen)?

If you can access them, leave a hot water bottle on them for an hour or so.

Hairdryer if you can't reach to get a hot water bottle on.

Two kettles full of boiling water. One down the sink and one on the pipe outside.

Thanks for the advice folks. I've had the pipe on the outside of the house off today and unblocked a load of nasty stuff (probably leaves I hope), and I've been pouring hot water down there like no one's business. If it doesn't work tonight, it's going to be hairdryers at fifty paces!
