Hello every1,
I've been lubricating my cable with GT85 but I've recently found out you can buy dedicated lubes for it.
Does any1 use them? and if so which one? Pls something I can find in the UK.
I've read they are much better for the cable tough.
thanks.

If the cables are nylon lined do not oil them.
otherwise just use any gear oil sae 30, sae90, 10w40 etc.

for back break cables I would use a light grease like Castrol LM.

look down the cable, see if it has a "plastic" inner sleeve.

Everyone has their own way of doing it, but going by what the Haynes and service manuals say for my bike, and that the cables I have aren't nylon lined..

Where the cable enters a metal boot (like the throttle), and you have metal/metal contact, I use lithium grease (3-in-1 spray stuff), and where the cable runs through a plastic/rubber jacket, I use silicone based grease (for me, the Wurth stuff). So, I use both, spraying silicone stuff down the entire cable first then a bit of lithium on the boot entrance and around the cable protruding from it. I've never had an issue doing it that way, done it every 4'000 miles and still running on the original cables at 23'000 miles after commuting 60 miles every day in all weathers (now I've said that something will snap this morning!). Get one of these for getting the silicone grease in:

I just drop 3 in 1 on the cable and let capilary action do it's thing. I wouldn't use GT85, it being a de greaser.
