Hey guys, i've got an odd vibration i can feel through most of the bike while riding.

Happens around 1st and 2nd gear at about 20-30mph, stops at higher speeds.

It sounds like something vibrating against something else very fast, i thought it could be something to do with the gears?

Engine still runs sweet as a nut, and when in neutral and revved, doesnt miss a beat so im kinda thinking its not the engine, no tappet sound and checked the ignition..

I was gunna check the foot pegs, because the right side vibrates more then the left..

But other then this, does anyone have suggestions?

Cheers guys, Malc

My first thought would be too check the 4 bolts that secure the footrest bar to your engine are tight.

My CG has made various different rattles at different speeds that have come and gone during it's life time, I would say it's nothing to be worried about.

Checking that all of the bolts are done up tight is a great place to start though if the engine is sounding sweet.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

Will do Very Happy

Also add, plenty of engine oil in there, doesnt seem to burn much, if any..

Also from what i remember, this just seemed to happen randomly, the vibration just came about.. so must be a loose bolt somewhere.

I tried the main engine bolt, it was loose enough that when turned on one side, it would turn easily. So i put a spanner on the other end and tightened it a bit.

The vibration seemed to be worse at the crotch area, where the seat meets the tank.. So could it be the main engine bolt and the vib was travelling up the main frame to that point?

check things like tank mounts, are all the rubbers there, intact etc?
they can often give funny rattling sounds.

other than that, stuff under the seat, battery, battery strap, airbox etc!

Good old CG rattles... Its a single cylinder thumper so stuff comes loose if not tight enough.
Normally its the brake lever thats bent up against the exhaust, exhaust thats loose, pegs an be in a bad posistion against the exhaust.
Just check over everything, someone on here asked me about his vibration problem and thought it was his engine, cant remember if he bought an engine or not in the end but it turned out it was just his front mudguard. Was a laugh when he realised haha.

I've got a similar bike to the CG, and had a rattle, turns out it was the bolts securing the exhaust, so my recommendation is to check those, and as others have said check local bolts and things.

I know what you mean. I had something that sounds very simmilar. Vibration and rattly noise at town speed. The top engine mount bolt was snapped, and the rear one bent. Also, as suggested. check the tank mountings, and the bolt for it under the seat.

Sorted it Very Happy Very Happy was the top rear engine mount, was just a bit loose, tightened it, solved the problem.

Sweet as a nut now!
