Hi,

I would like to welcome all members of BCF in the Essex and Suffolk region to Cannon BMW's exclusive preview of the fantastic BMW S1000RR superbike on Friday 4th December between 18:00 - 21:00, the unveiling will be at 19:30. Food and Drink will be available on the night.

I will also be on hand to answer any questions on the potential of the bike, having ridden it in anger at Circuit Castelloli in Barcelona. (the bike is AWESOME!!).

To be fair, Jay, the OP at least managed not to post in general bike chat, for an event that is kinda bike related, which is a fair bit better than the average person trying to promote their event .

While I'm here, might as well ask a question - what are it's strengths and weaknesses compared to the current crop of top litre bikes?

Thanks for your defence, I know it's a slightly shameless plug. But its also a biker gathering introducing a much anticipated Bike, although I am a dealer I am also a passionate biker! hence why they are my living!!

The bike is awesome, I have ridden all its 09 competitors and also own an 09 ZX-10R. Obviously they are not re-inventing the wheel, after all it is an inline four litre superbike which is fairly generic, however where it will move the goal posts is the electronic aides available.

I believe litre sports bikes have reached there "sensible!!?" power ceiling, the future development will be about controlling and harnessing the power and BMW are the 1st to offer intelligent aides.

Having at present only ridden the bike in anger on track, this shows its total compliance with the rider, the handling is very neutral and the chassis very confidence inspiring, one benefit of the bike over other litre sports is that the suspension settings can be easily altered making it less of a black art, there are numbered clicks and set up sugestions available in the handbook, this makes conversion from track to road and visa versa a simple task.

The brakes are also phenomenal ( Brembo monoblocks) it also has race ABS which can be switched off, BMW's system is also 7.5Kilos lighter than Honda's ABS.

The 4 available power modes are also fantastic changing the bike from a docile machine to a rabid lunatic with instant aggressive throttle response, the traction control also works in conjunction with the power modes allowing varying degrees of spin and wheelies, slick mode has a wheelie control letting you wheelie up to a 23 degree angle. You can also turn it off!!!

Why just bikers from that region ??? i know i am in scotland but have travelled fair distances for ANY BIKE EVENT in the past .After all you have posted it in UK NATIONAL .

Some interesting technology in that bike... if some of your first customers smash them up after finding all the electronics aren't a substitute for judging a corner well, I might be interested in buying a cosmetically-impaired one at a discount price .
Oh and somehow I doubt they'll be checking to see if you live locally before letting you into the event!.. it generally takes a while to be let into the appropriate regional forum.
