Hello, thankyou for taking time to read this.

ive recently noticed guys going round on monkey bikes with bigger engines fitted 110 125cc etc.

i have a honda c90 and have all the bits and knowledge to fit a 125 pitbike engine but my question is.

What are the rules and regulations for the engine swap? will i be able to insure it? and any other complications i should know about??

thanks for any help with answering my questions, especially if any guyswho have done this can help too.

regards. j

Either send off your V5 with a new engine number and capacity, and when you phone up for insurance, and they ask if you've modified it, tell them. Won't put up the price massively on a Clunk. Or, as I suspect alot of people do, just say nothing.

Make sure you get the pit bike CDI when you do the engine chop.

If you're buying the engine new, it will have transportation oil in it, drain it out before you start it. Fitting a branded spark plug is always a good idea, too.

If you're fitting a manual engine to a C90 and you need a clutch lever, you need to get a complete LHS switchgear from a C50LA. These had a parking brake, but you can use the lever as a clutch and they look the part.

Any generic pit bike 125 engine will fit. (Lifan, etc.)
