Fitted a new C+S kit this weekend, used a chain tool to rivet the soft links, is this rivet splayed enough to hold? I had an old vernier caliper without a scale on it so I dont know the exact amount of increase in width other than there was some.

Didn't wanna go so far that I damaged the rivet but I can always do a little more if it needs it...

Yep I just noticed - it was dark in my garage Mr. Green , technically though the top half of my chain is covered by a hugger so the bit you can see if is the right way up Thumbs Up .

Looks very tidy. Did you find it hard to split/rivet the chain & what tool did you use? This is one of the things i dread most but would be handy to know.

Cheers all Thumbs Up .

Misc, I used this tool and ordered it at the same time as the chain and sprocket kit from them too so saved on delivery:

https://bikespeeduk.com/epages/steer2916.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/steer2916/Products/CHAINTOOL

I ground the head off the old pins first with a dremel to make it a bit easier on the extracting pin of the kit but then it just went straight through no worries. I've stuck up the instructions PDF I found for the tool (EXACTLY the same tool just without the brand stamp) so you can have a wee look - it's very easy though, I haven't done one before and didn't have any problems.

I did also have to grind the holes out on one of the tool parts (part L on PDF) to make them wide enough for the master link rivets ends to fit through (again with a dremel) but otherwise it was really easy Thumbs Up .
