Id leave him alone before it backfires on you. I worked in a garage for 8yrs and went through most garage pranks as did the other apprentices. I then dished it out when new apprentices came along. However, sadly times have changed. Its now 2010 and kids wont put up with this shit anymore. They know too much these days.
I know this from personal experience. I used to beat my apprentice regulary (just playing and all) until one day he didnt turn up to work - then later that evening his mother did - cue me holding 'intense' talks in the gaffers office. Lets say it didnt happen again. Also a colleague set an apprentice on fire, then had him run round to the jetwash (still flaming away) to be extinguished. Seriously funny, but very stupid. Cue parents and police involved and the guy suspended.
Keep it mild or you will cross the line and people will suffer.

I reckon a good idea would be to wind your neck in and keep your head down before you get the sack for bullying.

Have you tried putting viagra, laxatives and sleeping tablets all in the same cup of coffee? You can also add some methylene blue for added effect.

You need to pass porn mags around after he's had the viagra coffee so that he ends up looking at them, otherwise nothing will happen.

OK, as team leader, can you explain which particular work practice requires you to be a cunt? Do you get special training in it, or were you employed for your natural ability?

If you put half as much effort into finding your women (girls) as you do bullying the apprentice you might not have so much of a jeremy kyle lifestyle.

If what you say is true then you are lucky you've not been beaten to within an inch of your "life"

Every apprentice gets shit granted, but to nearly kill someone (your words not mine) is taking the piss a wee bit. As team leader (again if its true) its your job to make it sure it doesn't go too far. I have been an apprentice before and can take a joke but if I found myself working with you, you would be getting far more than back chat you arrogant little shit bag.

Let me guess, anything physical has been done by more than one of you at a time?

I met a girl from grimsby last year and to be honest she came across as much of a fucked up retard as you.

Maybe its something in the water?

As team leader..be the bigger man like you are supposed to and tell him if he doesnt like it GTFO?

I was a senior network technician, when my juniors started faffing around, not doing what i asked, they got a warning, suffice to say none of them got the sack after being put in their place.

Im guessing this guy may get more and more pissed off till he files a complaint.. and the HUGE list will go against you, and you could pretty much lose your job.

Think yourself lucky he hasn't gone to the police or something, you could be be done for false imprisonment and allsorts.

Not to mention if the HSE found out what you've been upto your company could be fined into the 10's of thousands, not to mention as a team leader you are responsible for your colleagues' safety so you could be fined thousands aswell.

I doubt any of that would happen though as i'm assuming the whole 'list' is bullshit just like most of the other crap that you post.

I for one woud consider someone spiking my drink with prescription medicines as being so far beyond what is acceptable it doesn't even register on the scale.

Someone who would do something like that is clearly a cunt of the highest order. If I found out who had done something like that to me, I would almost certainly totally fly off the handle and retaliate in a manner that would leave said cunt in no doubt as to the error of his ways.

As a team leader, if one of your subordinates refuses to do their job with assosciated attitude, you call someone over as a witness, repeat the instruction and give them a verbal warning if they still refuse. The next time it happens, you call them in for a formal written warning. The third time you do the same. The forth time you give them their marching orders.

And here lies the problem. Thumbs Up

Are you claiming to have done all those things to that guy in a week and it's only Thursday? I smell BS. I would have broke your face and lost my job after one of those things. No man on the planet would suffer that and let you get away with it. Stop lying. Rolling Eyes

The current list stands at:-

Bogged - Head in sh1tter,
Crucified - Broom handle through overall sleaves and hoisted up on the fork truck,
Feet taped together and hung upside down,
Put in a site box and taken from Grimsby to Leeds,
Put in a site box and had it half filled with water,
Rolled up in bubble wrap and tied to a lampost
Stripped in the back of the van and thrown out at Tesco's round the corner and made to walk back,
False teeth in his coffee,
Laxatives in his coffee,
Viagra in his coffee,
Locked in toilets and then a Foam fire extinguiser fired through the open window,
Assuming any of this is true, how old is said sprog?

As an 'unnofficial' assistant manager at my work(get the job but not the pay/title Laughing ) if I heard of this shit being done, I would be finding myself sacked for knocking you down a peg or 3.

I'd suggest you grow the fuck up and behave professionally, in this day and age anything can be done to fuck you over.

Maybe you lot just don't see the funny side.

Would you see the funny side if you were "nearly killed" by being locked in a box that was then half filled with water?

Your reasoning is that because you and others have been through similar things, that means it's quite acceptable for you to do the same to other people. So if I find someone who has been arsed raped and paid them to do the same to you, would that be quite acceptable as it had happened to them?

Next question... is there anyone here who fits that criteria and is interested in earning some money? Laughing

What you have to remember here folks is that his sig says it all. I said this a couple of years back, this guy is simply so desperate to be seen as some sort of oddball that he'll go to almost any lengths or embarrassment to portray himself as such and is never more happy than when people are telling him he really is that "unique".

gonna have to join the bandwagon on this one warped and say your actions and that of your highly skilled team are way out of line.

Holding a position of authority means you are responsible for the well being of those employed under you.

Whilst this does give you the right to reprimand him or provivde him with official warnings or even let him go if he is not performing his duties correctly, it does not by any means permit you to lay your hands on him.

By being the 'leader' of your crew you are not only responsible for your own action but those of your team.
By not responding to these acts you have effectively condoned them and legally can be held just as accountable as those who perform the acts.

A few things to consider.

Why would someone respond to such treatment as if they were a model employee, when those who he would look to to lead by example are displaying traits which are well below any reasonable standard.
Right now, i would say his reactions/responses are well in line with those employees he is surrounded by and expected to follow.

Consider the legal implications if it goes sour. Plenty of advice in the preceding posts on that one.

If as someones up-line manager I am having issues with their work practices or general work ethic, I need to consider how I can best assist them to do the job I require of them.

Do I need to be the angry boss and fire off some warning shots in the form of a formal warnings, do I need to train them better or give them a better understanding of what is expected from them when performing the role or is there something outside of work which is causing them grief which may prompt a quick chat.

People are complex and as a manager you need to understand this and look back at your own abilities as a 'leader' and see where you can help.
To be blunt by not doing so, your position will not be yours for long and your team will not continue to work as efficiently as you perceive it to be now.
Carefully consider your options and where you want this to go next. Consider how important your weekly income is at this point too.
Then sit down with the young bloke, explain to him what is required of him, list out the things that need to change/improve and how you will help him get to this point.
Also give him a set time frame to make these changes.
If this doesn't happen in the required time, let him go.

Don't treat people like this though.
Mates yes but for someone who is still relatively young, these at work antics can have a terrible impact on his ability to get and keep a job down the road.
