first of all, a very HNY to you all, hope you all enjoyed yourselves Thumbs Up

I'm possibly looking to get a newer ish bike. Nowt wrong with mine, but I feel like a change & I do like the R1's Twisted Evil

Now last year I should have bitten one of my best mates arms off for his R1 as he was selling it.
It was:
1 owner from new (him)
13k
FSH
2001 model on a 2002 plate & in blue

He offered it to me for £2300 Shocked
He sold it on Ebay for £2600
But I felt I would be running before I could walk if you know what I mean, so I declined his offer, which I am now regretting big time.

I've been looking on www.parkers.co.uk for price guides & also on Ebay, biketrader, pistonheads etc.

Now the prices of the bikes in the small ads seem to be way above what Parkers are suggesting.

For example:
https://www.parkers.co.uk/motorbikes/used-prices/Valuation.aspx?plate=66&deriv=5101

What's the average mileage for bikes these days? I'm not too concerned about high-ish mileage, as long as it's got FSH to back it all up.

Has anyone sold their R1 recently that could tell me how much they got for it?

Thanks in advance for your help Thumbs Up

Rich

I believe Parkers used to be based on 4000 miles a year for bikes, not sure now.

Remember, now's an odd time of year for buying bikes, a week after Christmas etc. There was certainly some good deals around a few weeks before Christmas.

Average price of 2001 R1 in Japan was 673,000yen (£4,476)
and the mileage was 14700km(9190miles) but I don't believe this odo is true. link
Used bike is very expensive here. Sorry for offtopic.

Remember parkers prices represent the after haggling price rather than the advertised. Plus comparing the list you sent vs autotrader gives a list of bikes (all trade) that are within a few hundred quid of the parkers guide (~£2800) price for independent dealers...

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/results/usedbikes/make/yamaha/model/yzf-r1/keywords/2001/price-from/1000/sort/priceasc?logcode=s

Sounds like your mate's deal was fair though. Maybe wait for spring - no-one's daft enough to sell bike privately at this time of year Smile
