Basically, im a 20 yrs old student with part time job and 3years bike NCB. I had my fun on my gsxr600 in the past year, great fun.
But what i did this year is undescribable I bought a car because i have pussied out and had enough of rain and snow and cold.
So now i am paying 1500 for insurance on 1.4 mg zr which is pretty much me giving away my money to people who already rich, i am quite confident that i am not going to crash because i drive like a pussy, so its just if someone else crashesh in me, thats when i'll be in trouble.
So now i run few quotes on quotezone on some 'bikes' i always wanted to have.
So we have R1 quoted 300 TPO and 500 FC for me
We have hayabusa quoted 900 TPO for me
Pretty cheap i'd say, and i can afford to buy and run a single vehicle but not two. Its not like i am rich or anything, i just bust my ass durring the nights while i have uni durring the day so thats where the money come from.
So i think i'll stick to the car in 2010, it has its perks like not being cold, wet, music blablabla but every time i got on my gsxr i felt like 'wow' this is better then sex.
Hopefully i will be getting R1/Hayabusa next year, at least i wont have to taxi everyone around, pay shitloads for already overpriced petrol and be able to truly enjoy myself! ____________________ Theory Passed: 23/10/2008 49/74 Bike Test Passed: 05/01/2009 1 minor

Lots of people are in the same situation, and I would say a good majority of us have been to university and know the deal.
The thing is, if you want to become educated (ha!) then you have to make sacrifices.
One thing I will say though is, if you buy a Hayabusa and get it insured TPO then you're a chump. What will happen is this. You'll buy Hayabusa and be initially happy. You'll blab about it on the forum and people will go "Oh wow... keep it shiny side up" and the usual forum comments. You'll go back to Uni with it and realise there is nowhere to park it apart from outside your uni house.
Then, it gets stolen/one of your housemates reverses over it in a clapped out campervan which is uninsured/some berk in an X5 drives over it and drives off/you write it off in a freak 180mph loss of control incident which is definitely not your fault despite you deliberately wheelying over an iced up bed of nails on a 90 degree bend at the top of Ben Nevis/An aeroplane engine falls off of a 747 and lands on it/delete as appropriate.
Then the sequence of events is thus:
You'll come on the forum.
You'll get the usual 'bad luck' responses from people on here, and a few blaming you for wheelying over an aero engined campervan whilst trying to avoid a psychopathic BMW owner/motorcycle thief, but you'll still be without transport and have a Hayabusa sized hole in your bank account.
Basically, if you insure a bike TPO and it gets nicked from outside a student area of a town, you've only got yourself to blame. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |
