Hey.

Picking up an FZR600 crashed, front ends pretty much getting replaced.

Googling for a while, got alot of FZR400 parts.
Found I can use some if not all the fork setup, maybe the yokes, if both of those, then the handlebars should fit...
But also the front mudguard, it may fit it may not.

Bikes are same year, and apparently share some parts.

Could anyone help me out, just let me know what parts will/will not fit before I go splash some cash!

Hi

Not sure what bits exactly, but many will. The FZR600 was a bored / strokes FZR400 made on the cheap (ie, 600 has a steel frame, equivalent 400 is alloy). A fair few internal engine bits for the 600 have the 400s model code cast into them.

Might just be easier to get a complete 400 front end.

All the best

Keith

Cheers
This front end is 1989 FZR400 "Genesis"??
Forks and Fork lowers, yokes, mudguard and handlebars..

This is going onto a 1989 FZR600.
Ive got a cheap deal on the parts, so would be nice to buy this whole front end Smile

Hi

Not certain but would suspect it would all fit fairly easily (Yamaha are good for not changing things unless they have to, makes swapping bits around easier).

With a complete front end I would just drop the old yokes out and the new ones in. You might want to use the fork springs from the 600s forks though (suspect the 400 suspension is softer to cope with lighter Japanese riders and a lighter bike).

All the best

Keith

OK, then i shall order it...if it doesnt fit I could probably send back, minus the postage, so no real loss.
Hope it fits, thanks for the help! Karma Karma

Am sorry keith but my FZR400 would be on the road if that was so easier, the 600 is plenty am sure he can find a complete for under £80 notes.

Hi

Seems he had found it already though. However I more meant get everything to match so the only bit that matters for fitting it the stem fitted to the lower yoke.

All the best

Keith
