I was wondering if the BCF masses could help me find a "traditional" leather jacket (80's style, no logos or anything, plain black if possible).

I want to buy new this time, I have a few hundred to spend on it, it's got to be comfortable enough to wear EVERYWHERE (not just on the bike). No armour (or removable), decent pockets, and in 10 or 20 years, it needs to still be wearable.

Cotton liner is preferred.

Replacing this, that was bought for £5 at a car boot:

Any ideas from anyone?

Have a look at Joe Browns they have a nice selection I've recently considered saving for myself.

I can vouch for their 'savings' too, the 'was' price is actually was it was priced at. Infact, I have a catalogue here that prices the leather 'Daytona' jacket at 150quid back in summer. Thumbs Up

He did say 1980s, when fashion was invented.

That style is often called brando or patrol I think, and to me seems more American - you didn't see them like that much here until well into 80s.
The UK style is two near vertical opening hand warmer pockets and two horizontal zipped ones below.

It's worth looking for one with twin track zips so you can get a reasonably close fit for biking and get an extra layer or two underneath in outer track.
A 'safe' dry inside pocket with zip is good - and nowadays a mobile phone pocket the other side too.

Bikers Paradise have decent quality ones here.
https://sslhelm.net/bikersparadise-co-uk/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=26

They are something that never really goes out of style and if you get too chunky for it you can sell it on since they probably will last about a hundred years with a bit of care.

That's a lot cheaper than the price of one of the Schott ones! Only downside is Nottingham is quite a way from here, are they a decent company that would take measurements over the phone and post the jacket?

Give them a call, they have a 7 day refund policy, minus shipping.

But the ones with 'patchwork' padding on the shoulders or arms were frowned upon.
The proper late 70's and early 80's jackets were just plain leather.

The boots were the same... its was the laces that I changed ... plus some studded thing Question Embarassed Shocked
I also seem to remember peeling the 'Please Mind Your Head' stickers from the train doors and sticking them to my boots Embarassed Shocked

It was a confusing time and I was emotional.
