Just a quick one... If I bought these two items:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-TZR125-TZR250-TZR-125-IGNITION-SWITCH_W0QQitemZ270482193942QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item3ef9febe16#ht_1148wt_838

and

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-TZR250-TZR125-TZR-NEW-FUEL-TANK-PETROL-CAP_W0QQitemZ270500072958QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item3efb0f8dfe#ht_1043wt_838

(That is an ignition switch and a petrol cap, both with their own set of keys)

Would I have a separate key to start my bike than I would to open the fuel tank?

Is there any way to fix it so you can use one key with both locks?

You might get lucky - the lock barrel in the fuel cap will only have a couple of levers in it so will fit many keys with similar profiles, so you have a small chance your ignition key will fit.

If it doesn't, and you are very brave:
Dismantle the fuel cap.
remove the lock barrel.
Put the ignition key in the lock barrel
if there are any prominent levers showing, file them off flush with the barrel
put it back together.
Should work now with both keys!

I have different keys for my ignition and for my fuel cap from when my bike was stolen and my ignition ripped out. You get used to it Thumbs Up

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

Doesn't a lock set normally come with ignition key top yoke and tank cap?

Alle the ones i've bought came like that.
No idea why you would buy them seperate. Try and find a set so you don't have multiple keys Smile

You can do it with cars (old cars)

just need to open one up check tumblers numbers then make to other one the match.

but you need to buy the tumblers.

or take it to a automotive locksmith. might be able to cut a key to match both. Confused Thumbs Up
